Hi everyone-

I know this isn't exactly the correct forum for this, but I thought I'd post a link anyways.

I used to post here under a different name, which I now don't remember. I kind of gave up on actually buying a TK ring and moved on to a different collecting hobby: WWII German issued watches. They're a little more affordable than a TK ring, and great to wear.

Kevin, the state of HRs is tough right now. Prices are high, no one has any money, dealers are not lowering prices,,so everyone is holding on to their money and their HRs!! Plus the added problem with great fakes and mis information about the ring has created a unstable market.
Things will get worse before they get better but they will get better.
Private purchase rings are doing better. The only bad thing that with so many new PP ring collectors simple patterns like certain WestWall , Skull & Bones, that were once common are now getting hard to find.!

Your more than welcome to post about military watches here or on the Misc. Forum. Checked your links, I see there are fakes and problems like every other aspect of our hobby.
I would think to find an authentic working German military watch would be a rare thing!
Good luck and happy hunting... ,G.

Hey G-

Thx for the reply.

Actually, the standard D/DH/DU 'field' watches are quite common and sell for typically under $300.00 in decent or even restored condition. I've bought quite a few that were a bit rough (movement needed service, new crystal, clean up the case, etc.) for under $100.00

Where you start to find the fakes are the Luftwaffe chronograph watches, like Glasshutte, Hanhart, Tutima, etc. Original chronos in good condition go for around $5000.00, so there's more reason to fake these or put one together from original, mismatched parts ('frankenwatch', as they're referred to).

If anyone's interested, I can direct them to either Ebay auctions or sites that have originals for sale.

Sorry to hijack, I just thought that some TK enthusiasts like myself might also be interested in another collectible item. From here on out I'll keep it in the other forum. :-)

"frankenwatch" grin

well if they boot you out over on the Misc. or Equipment forum your welcome to post here anytime..

A mans watch like his ring are 2 of the most personal things a soldier had on him with the exception of his pocket knife, soldbuch, and of course family photos. I'd love to collect all these personal items but my finances will only allow for one, so here I am..

But please any really interesting watch feel free to give us a 'look see' over here...
