Will,,, Dave is right, buy every book you can afford first.

Try to specialize. I think if you are going to collect daggers, cloth, helmets, medals, all at the same time you will go broke in a hurry and end up with some junk in your collection. Try to stick to 2 or 3 subject matters at the very most..

Try to hit some of the bigger shows and try to handle as many pieces as you can get your hands on..

*Study authentic pieces, the fakes will show themselves......

When I started collecting blades in the mid 1960's, there were no books!

Thanks guys, My brother sells civil war relics for a living & has recently gotten into ww2 german items, so he is a big help in the learning curve.
