Hi all,,,picked this up last weekend at a flea market;bought from the vet's(deceased now) nephew,,nephew said his uncle killed the german and captured the helmet and the nephew said he has had it since 1950-unaltered and this is the state when he inherited it,liner tight,,it looks kosher to me,,,,also have his uncle's m-1 helmet with his last name on the front of the liner,,,here's pics of the Nazi helmet,,comments welcomed,, wink

Are you sure he didn't say a German General? That seems to be the normal story, or least with all the humped up nickle or chrome plated handguns smile

I would suspect the entire exterior was done by the vet or his nephew post war. It just does not seem right in any way and if it were mine I would probably test a portion with paint remover.

possibly the vet did this as the nephew, whom i bought this from, stated it was in this exact state when he inherited this and his uncle's M-1 helmet, which i also bought but didn't really want...

looks like a veteran repaint. glossy paint , ect. OR most likely the vet was there as part of the occupation & a local painted to sell /trade to this vet.
