Thanks Militarymania, Serge & Paul (!) It’s always nice to share our latest ‘treasures & finds’ with our collector buddies.

I’d forgotten that I also had a foto of a TeNo Car Pennant Banner – on a car! [Since I never anticipated ever finding an actual TN banner when I got the foto, finding this now is very nice surprise.]

The TeNo Banner shown in the Car foto is either for an Ortsführer or a Bezirsksführer (depending on the width of the outer Aluminum tresse.) In the very large Landesgruppen, such as LG X – based in Hamburg, they did have a Bezirsksgruppe as an intermediate level above the various Ortsgruppen. So, who knows?

Paul, the TeNo Car Pennant Banner [Stander] was flown from the Left front fender. I don’t know ‘if’ any other banner was used on the Right front [except that we could expect a swastika flag on it!] Maybe the nice blue TeNo Banner was sufficient for the boys.

The car is a big Mercedes (MBZ) ‘touring car’ which must have been one of the perks of the office. I don’t know the MBZ model / type – but I’ll bet that some collector does know how to ID it. … Best, Dave / dblmed

DUTCH TN • TeNo [ the Technische Noodhulp ] Side Cap

Marc Verstraete Van der Weyer posted a very, very special Dutch TN Side Cap:
http://www.wehrmacht-awards.co...ghlight=teno&page=13

This is an extremely rare item, as a Dutch TN Side Cap is an almost 'never seen' TeNo item. The Dutch TN was comprised of only about 4,500 Noodhelpers – so any surviving items are a treasure. Marc's example helps to solve some unanswered questions about the headgear of the Dutch TN.

• • • We have a Dutch TN / Technische Noodhulp 'share & discussion' thread going, posted at:
http://stirnpanzer.com/forum/viewtop...=teno&start=40

A number of Dutch collectors have added their varied Dutch TN items, but a confirmation of the front ‘Emblem’ of the Side Cap was missing – until now! Winkelman posted a ‘screen capture’ of a foto from a WWII history program, shown on Dutch TV. [as is attached below] The front ‘Emblem’ of the Dutch TN - Technische Noodhulp Side Cap could be seen as a “Square” – & - Not as the Rhomboid [Diamond] shape of the German TN, with the Black-White-Red circles in it.

With seeing Marc's Side Cap, it solves the mystery & confirms the Dutch TN Side Cap emblem! The Dutch TN used the TeNo “Classic” ‘TN-in-Cog’ emblem motif – much like the emblem of their Armscheibe [Left sleeve patch]. Thanks to Marc for his Posting. ..Txs, Dave / dblmed

TeNo BOX BUCKLE - Brass (Front)

Mike P. recently acquired this very special TeNo BOX BUCKLE - in Brass, from the family of a Vet:

"... Thought I’d add my new find to the Thread …it’s not Mint but , I’m really happy I found it ! ..." MP

It's quite a very special rare beauty!
[The TN-in-Cog ties in nicely with the same Logo, as used by the Dutch TN, Technische Noodhulp, on their Side Caps.]

Well Dave, the tabs I stumbled into arrived. I bought a set of NSKK tabs, and asked the seller if he had any other collar tabs...and all he had were TENO tabs, wow!

No glow under black light. The one set is definitely a pair, as the backs are identical. The bullion tab is very cool. Did you say you thought that would be paired with an officers bullion rank tab? Since I have a Teno officers dagger and a Hewer, it'd be nice to have an officer's pair of tabs to go with the leader dagger. It's also interesting how much the wool of these tabs looks like the wool of SS tabs.

CONGRATS ! A Nice Matched TeNo Collar Tab Set + Others(!)

I've attached a page from a 1940 TeNo MERKBUCH which shows the Collar Tab & the
Shoulder Boards used for the then current TeNo Ranks.

Your ZAHNRAD (Cog) Left Collar Tab was used for the TeNo • TN Ranks of:
1) TN-Mann
2) Vormann
3) Obervormann

Your Right Collar Tab has Roman Numeral "XII" which references Landesgruppe XII,
which had different designations over time:
XII = Hessen [HQ Frankfurt am Main] 1934-1936
XII = Hessen-Westmark [HQ Frankfurt am Main] 1937-Sept 30, 1941
XII = Westmark [HQ Frankfurt am Main] October 1, 1941
XII = TN. Berich Rhein [HQ Frankfurt am Main then Mainz] 1942/1943 - Kriegsend

So, that Right Collar Tab "XII" could have reasonably been used from 1936-1945.
What is very interesting is that the "XII" worn alone, designated that the individual
was assigned to the HQ of the Landesgruppe XII. From 1942/1943 the 'XII" could
have also had a different designation under the Bereich system. [This part of the TeNo
story is still unfolding.]

My 'belief' is that the same black wool material was used for
both the SS Tabs & TeNo Tabs.

SUPER TeNo Matched Tabs Set ! ... Thanks for sharing. ... Dave / dblmed

TeNo Kameradschaftsführer w M43 Piped Cap

This outstanding Photo was just sold on eBay today, Aug. 18,2010. The sticker
shock price was a bit too steep at 104 Euros! CONGRATS to the new owner & hope
that he / she is a WAF member. [Even though I didn't get it, I'm pleased to see that
the appreciation of the TeNo is growing.]

This photo shows a young TeNo Kameradschaftsführer wearing the M43 Piped Cap.
with Silver Edge Piping [for that rank.] I am 'guessing' at the Kameradschaftsführer rank,
as I see no distinctive TeNo 'pips' on his Shoulder Boards. [His youth is historically
important - as too many writers repeat the outdated lines of "old guys in the TeNo."]
We are seeing pictorially that this has proven to be incorrect.

His Right Collar Tab is black, without Numbers, signifying that he is unattached to
a specific unit - or - that he just that he is serving outside of the Reich. Buttons
are the plain type, without the distinctive TeNo Cog Wheel logo. [This helps to ID
the time-line to 1941 or later.]

This Grey TeNo Uniform was worn alongside the distinctive Police Green 1943
TeNo-Police Uniform, both until 1945. I can not ID his Ribbon Bar & Pin.

A Great Photo for our TeNo Archives! CONGRATS! ... Dave / dblmed

TeNo-Police Classic Photo – 1943-1945 - Ranking of Rottwachtmeister d. TN:
[Parallelogram shaped “SS-Like” Black Collar Tabs w 2 Narrow Rows of Tresse
- & -
Shoulder Boards w 1 Wide Tresse Strip at the Base.]

Through the keen eyes of a good friend [Txs, DC!], this super photo just came my way.

The photo shows all of the Key elements of the June 1, 1943 – Kriegsend TeNo-Police Uniform ensemble:
Tunic - Correct Police Tunic;
Collar Tabs – Matching Mirrored “SS-Like” Tabs
Shoulder Boards – TN-Police Type
Sleeve Eagle – BLACK TeNo-Police Eagle
Raute – Diamond Shaped TeNo-Police TRADITIONS Abzeichen, worn on the left lower sleeve
M43 Soft Billed Cap – with Police Insignia. [Of interest, the Soft Billed Cap was the same as the Police Caps;
It Did Not Have the Black Piping which was used on the TeNo-Police Side Cap.]

[* Pants & Boots – I am not knowledgeable regarding the date range of use.]

TeNo Gemeinschaftsführer Board 1940/43

Here is a nice example of the sewn in type of TeNo Gemeinschaftsführer (Gf.-F.)
Shoulder Board, which was officially in effect from mid 1940 – mid 1943.

However this Board continued to be worn until kriegsend by the
TeNo men who wore the classic Navy-Blue [Dunkelblau] TN uniform.
[There were war time supply & distribution problems, and the
intended 1943 transition to the TeNo-Police uniform & new
ranking configuration, were not available for all of the TeNo
members.]

The metal “Pip” [in Silver or Gold - which was used by the TeNo is
unique to this organization. [There are other somewhat similar
Cog pips, as worn by the Kriegsmarine & the DAF, which are
often confused with the TeNo Pip, especially on dealer sites.]

Thanks, …Dave L / dblmed
