Hi folks,

Just picked one of these up today in a group deal.. Dont know much about them?

The bore has great rifling and very shiny.

Any info would be great.

Looks like a regular Lee Enfield 303 made at Royal
Ordnance Factory (ROF)short barrel for jungle use.
Google Lee Enfield.They would have story as this was
mainstay of British Army rifles for years.
In fact you can still see them in use by Indian & Pak Army
today made in British built arms Plants in both Countries.
Hope this can be a pointer.

i remember when i was a kid,there were barrels of these carbines at the army surplus store.my cousin bought one almost 50 years ago-never fired it- still has it. nice looking gun. paul

They had a reputation for a wondering zero. The story was that the rifles wouldn't stay zeroed on target for a number or reasons including lightening cuts made in the receiver. Some say the problem was overblown and partially due to the troops wanting automatic rifles like other countries were starting to adopt instead of the older bolt action style.

I ordered several of them when Century Arms imported a large batch from Malaysia. They're handy little rifles.

For a skinny little guy like me, these things kick like a mule!
This branch of military firearms technology makes me really glad when the trend moved to the intermediate cartridge with gas operation.

What is the going rate for one.these days.

The import marked guns were selling for $175.00 just a few years ago. I've seen nice ones with matching numbers selling as high as $300 recently.

Very handy weapon but they couldn't keep their zero and the kick and muzzle flash was more than the British wanted in a weapon. They have hung around a long time but have been limited in their regular combat usage.

I've seen them go for $300.00 to $350.00. But I've also seen some as new (never issued) guns that sold for that much 10 or 15 (?) years ago. FP

nice jungle . every one I had talked to after I stumbled on to mine ,made the big deal on the "high" price they sell for , only to find that was Not true. also seems to be more out there than any one wants to admit. the bayonets are real rare. if you're into brit. empire stuff, this is what you need.
looked like this one is post war dated (??).

Lugers will have BNP marks too meaning that at one time it passed through England and than on to somewhere else.
