Very nice piece of family history!
The 3rd was one of those units that really used their insignia on helmets, uniforms, and gasmask bags.
For what its worth that is a British made helmet as well.

Very nice helmet. Definately one to be kept as a family treasure. Here is Leroy Dye's 3rd I.D. helmet that still remains in his family along with his Colt M1911. As you can see, he was an M.P. who shipped overseas on the USS Carpathia. He also spent part of his service in the 45th Infantry according to the family.
WANTED TO REPURCHASE!! Walther pistol Model PP - ac code - Ser. No. 382000P - REWARD FOR INFO ABOUT THIS PISTOL!!
