LH:

That is one heck of a nice dagger, rare as hen's teeth and with a great provenance to boot.

When you see something this nice and with this much character, you wonder why some of us do not like RZM marked pieces. What is there here not to like?

Congratulations, my friend,

John

Here is 2 Norwegians . One of them with M 36 Chain dagger.

The person is : Thorvald Throndsen and Leif Schjren. From an artikkel in the "Germaneren"

The top management of all Germanic SS departments around the occupied countries was conducted from SS headquarters in Germany. Local Germanic SS Norway was first led by SS-Obersturmfhrer Beyermann and as staff director of SS Hauptsturmfhrer Olaf T. Lindvig from August 1942 to April 1943. From 1943 to February 1945 did Leif Myklebust Schjren (1901-1968) as staff director. Jonas Lie was the end of the war head of the department, in addition to his duties in the government as police minister.

SS supported and controlled the organization by Germanischer Exploration Counting in Oslo, which was responsible for the "Germanic work of Norway.

Editor of the organization's newspaper Germantown was the first coach Egil Holst Torkildsen.

Hi Larry
Thank you very much smile

I say to my self many years ago......only early SS daggers grin

A short brief of history around the 1203/38 Dagger as pictured.

He was a Norwegian front fighter who were in the SS-skijegerbataljonen, and fell for Starlin Red Army when they were stationed in Karelia

New info.

The Owner of the SS dagger 1203/38 was also in a spesial group in der SS called : SS-Rntgensturmbann.
Missing and never found on the Eastfront.

SS-Rntgensturmbann, a unit which originally was set up as a medical service unit for the Waffen SS, consisted of approximately 100 soldiers in 1944. Apparently 20 of these were Norwegian. The unit was set in to put down tre uprising in Warsaw in 1944.

People do not talk so much about these guys in the SS group Rntgensturmbann, there are dark secrets and frontline soldiers never spoken about.

It is known 12 slain and missing frontline soldiers in the SS Rntgensturmbann, who is Norwegian.

Source : These are excerpts from the good book to Eirik Veum & Geir Brenden. The book is called: THOSE WHO FELL.

My story stop here now. I will have the name of the owner of this SS dagger Rzm 7/49 1203 SS Witheld.

Many thanks for all replys and help. And Vern Thanks for fast mail replys and help.

Regards LH

Thank you for kind words KR & Vern smile Its a pleasure to get hands of this Spesial SS dagger with "Dark heavy" Background . I speak with the family having this dagger on phone today , and i have now confirm all the informations of the owner. I have pics of him too. Cant` be better. There is also a very big possibility that the owner of the SS dagger has been in the Oscar Dirlewangers SS Sonderbatallion

I also got mail from one of the well known dealers in the USa last week.
Here it is :

Here is some of the E mail.

I have made note of your recent SS dagger acquisition having the code,
RZM M 7/49 1203/38 SS. I have not seen this code in the past. The dagger
appears to be in very nice condition.

It is interesting that these never-before-seen SS codes still keep turning up.
It almost seems that the makers involved may have produced a dagger-run
of only a dozen or so daggers - hardly worth the effort. But, the Germans
are not the kind of people that would turn down work for a business.

I appreciate the pictures and congratulate you picking up this ultra-rare
SS Model 1933. Please keep me informed of anything in the future.

Extremely interesting piece. If it weren't you who posted this dagger (and it wouldn't look sooo great), I'd be bit sceptical about the motto - totally unknown pattern, the letter "M" is so atypical. Anyway it seems your bird is much rarer than for example early Ed Gembruch.
