I have a Royal Romanian Air Force Sword (photos when I unpack and find my camera)from the 1930-1940 period (probably 1933-34 based on the Eichhorn logo)and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these. Specifically how rare is it and is there any collector interest in them. I am thinking about selling it and any help would be appreciated. Thanks Larry

Based on Eickhorn's catalogue for Romania, there are two versions of the Air Force sword.
Value in Romania is the same as elswhere. The value of yours will depend on which model, what condition, and any provinence.
Plese show us photos so our Romanian members can give you some feed back.

So, you have the deluxe model.

I don't have a clue. An internet search shows very few Romanian items to compare it with, most (and best conditioned)items on the World Daggers website.

That is the problem with the non German stuff. But we can wait for our European members to make comment. They know the prices better.

As Jim said, that is one rare and beautiful bird you have there! Congratulations on such a great find.
In some ways, it’s similar to my Bulgarian Generals Degan which was also produced by Eickhorn. If you do a search, you should find a few pictures of it somewhere on this forum.
Pricing this type of item is so difficult due to its rarity. In addition, you just don’t see any for sale, in order to get an idea of current pricing, and market value. In many ways, an items value is only what someone is willing to pay. As a general rule, most swords don’t seem to command the same money as daggers. However, with this swords rarity, I would think this one would be an exception to that rule. I would research and then do some more research, before selling it, if that’s what you decide to do.
Best of luck to you on finding additional information.
Gary
