Kalvin,
Glad you figured it out, I was just getting ready to post your pics...
I'm not sure if this neat old helmet is even of German origin? I don't recognize the crest in the starburst at all? It may be from any of the European countries, which one I haven't the foggiest notion?
Time period I'd say 1800 to 1850, somewhere in there? One of our members who specializes in headgear might be able to shed more light on the subject for us and also tell you how to proceed with cleaning.
Thanks for sharing this with us, I hope you'll be sucessful.
Best!

I am posting a better picture of the front plate. It has three crowns on it and think it could be Swedish and possible Danish. Your help appreciated. Blademan

Blademan, It looks close but not a 100% match ... though, I think you're on the right track. Best! Bill

Bill, Thanks for your input. The image on the first link isn't an exact match, but think the shield on the second link under the date 1809-1839 seems to be an exact match to me. It is for the Denmark King Frederick VI. I wonder if this is an Imperial Guard type helmet? Doesn't seem fancy enought for that though. Thanks, Blademan
