I didn't really like this ring when I bought it in the 80's but over the years I have learned to appreciate it. Any opinions about it would be welcome. Thanks

Thanks Hi, dr.B., Yes I agree with Gaspare WW1 and/or freikorps. The skull and bones are hollow on this ring, there are also known with a gold layer( I wonder also silver layer?). It is a nice worn ring with patina I like . In the recesses could be paint-blackening. You did well not to remove the ring. Benten
