I would also go with Weiss. "S" can have different forms depending on location within a word.

Hello Paul,
I check some old german fonts and in most of them the third caracter you show is definitely an "f" so the name you search is Weifs. If you want more info on these fonts, please, let me know.

Look at the crossbars on the "t" in "Otto". If the letter was an "f", the right side of the crossbar would be more defined, like the crossbar on the "t". I think it is "Weiss" and the decoration is as seen on the "i".

Also, try a web search on "Weifs". The search comes back with "Weifs/Weiss", and the "Weifs" entries are primarily in the US and Great Britain

No, "Weifs" is no common german name, but the letter is for me without doubt an "f".
And if you write here a word with 2 s, you have to use the same two letters s or an so called sharp s - writen "�", but never a never a other combination.
