I have this little knife with a HJ insignia glued to the scabard (the grip is too small to install the insignia). Non-magnetic, un-plated pommel and guard. It measures 7 7/8"(23cm)overall, blade is 4 5/8" (11.7cm), grip is 3 3/16" (8.2cm). It has a felt buffer. There is no maker's mark but it is well made and appears to be perfectly proportioned. It is photoed with a post war example to show scale.

Are these Period? Common? Uncommon? Fantasy?

Thanks, Larry

Thanks for the reply. Right after I posted my question I was directed to a very interesting prior discussion of these. It seems there are several differing opinions.

Thanks

These little knives with insignia to the scabbard are correct except to say the insignia should be pinned NOT GLUED to the obverse of the scabbard.

I cannot see into the scabbard to see if it is pinned as the obverse retaining spring is in the way. What I am seeing may just be years of grime accumulated around the insignia. Overall, the construction appears to be period, but I have no experience with these knives.

Thanks
Larry
