Here's another recent out-of-the-woodwork find. It a "O" gauge Lionel engine towing a radar car. According to Tim Schreiner, our resident model train expert, it's from the 50s and relatively rare. This came out of an attic where it had lain dormant for decades and all I did before taking pictures was dust it off. Who knows when it was run last but I connected up a transformer and it fired right up. IMO: A tribute to American craftmanship during this period.

Actually that switcher is fairly common. But to find one with the window post not broken is tough. the other car havent seen one of them in a while.

I didn't initially post all of the parts in this set because it wasn't military related but for the record here's some more of it.

those are two different sets. The military is one set and the freight is another. I think. I would have to get the numbers and talk to my train guy. The radar car should be the best one. The 2026 is a very common engine.

I had a Lionel tram car set from the 20's when I was a kid..came from my uncle who was in the American diplomatic corp., he used to bring home a lot of neat items like trains, miniature steam engines etc..
