Hello,
I am going to buy this short bayonet and I need your opinions. Sorry for pics, but that's what I have for now. Seller asking $900.
I think it is in a high side.....?
Rivets have no damage, blade has no movement.
Thanks

Hi Andrei,

I am not sure I like this. Something just does not seem correct. I think it's rather messy in the details and not something I would go for personally. It would be great if Wayne would have a word or two to say on this.

Thanks Jan,
I am on the same page with you, something (if not everything)does not seem correct.
I did more search yesterday , using online and Wayne book and what I can see - a lot red flags. Nothing match with the Wayne examples in the book. As we know Hller's etches can be considered "sloppy", but not sloppy like this one. I would agree with the following statement: nice real Hller bayonet and the etch was applied postwar. Are you guys?
Regards,

hello- not sure but the logo looks wrong, to me it looks like there are not enough lines on the thremostat. an old way to tell the early fake hollers. no expert here- just my thoughts.

I don't like this etch either.

Take a look at the front bookends on mine... a little sloppy, but that is almost expected of Hollers. But, the one above is way too sloppy for my taste.

And look at the tail of the clouds on the Reverse side.. not nice at all.

I am not sure about maker marks on Hollers, after all, one can find 12, 17 and 19 tick thermometers on Luft2s, so why not expect them on etched bayos?

A lot of good points stated about this Holler not being period. As we all know, regarding etched bayonets, Hollers can certainly be considered sloppy. Especially when comparing them to other prolific etch masters of the NS zeit, Eick, Klaas, Puma, Pack. That said, I think there is an acceptable amount of sloppiness we've come to expect on Holler's products & this posted piece seems to go beyond that, especially as John says in the clouds & bookends.
