Here's something I just got in, silver marked 835 and made by the firm of Gebrüder Deyhle. Stands 6" tall and 3" round. Sorry about the reflections.

Gary,
As always thanks for showing your nice find and love the style of your presentation cup. I believe the shooting school is now in Wiesbaden. I hope I'm right with that information.

jager,
Splendid trophies. Their wasn't a national meet in 1910. I'm thinking this is a shooting related trophy and not a hunting trophy and maybe won at a regional or local shooting meet. I've seen one just like yours and it was won by shooter Hans Gewiss.
Also their was a national meet held in Frankfurt 14-21 July 1912. Which was also their golden jubilee. Maybe your 1912 is from this meet. I can't read the writting on your very nice trophy to say. Bigger pictures would be needed. Thanks a lot for showing such rare pieces and really enjoy seeing them.
Houston is by all accounts the most renowned expert hands down in his field and is known all over the world. I bow to his expertise on all this stuff and you can take his word as gospel.

Thanks for the info. I am away from home for a couple of weeks, but when I return, will post the writing on the shooting piece. Thanks again, Yager

Well Denny posted a firearm four years ago, so I guess it is about time for another. This PPK was one of ten presented to the best ten pistol marksman and Political Leaders of the NSDAP in Gau Franken in June of 1939 who by their victory qualified to compete in the pistol shooting that took place in the NSDAP National Party Day Games that were scheduled for the National Party Day celebration to take place in September of 1939. But of course the war broke out and the Reichs Parteitag was cancelled.

Not a shooting award but a high end Schuetzen rifle made in 1925 that would have been used in Schutzfests. These rifle matches were extremely popular in Germany and among the German immigrant community here. A recent out-of-the-woodwork find on my part in the classic 8.15x46R caliber. These rifles were used in 200 meter offhand competitions. The box contains a spare sight and a magnifier(rare). I'm in the process of working up some loads for this rifle and will put it back into service soon.

Some really interesting items.

Since nobody's shown one in this thread yet, here's a Schützen kette w/various awards dating from pre WWI thru early 30s.

Roger, that piece belonged to my great grandfather, so how about handing it over. I really like the chains, hard to find and a little pricey once found. Nice piece Roger. Any more history behind it? James

James,

How about, at the next show, I'll bring the chain and you bring those awards, and I'll be pleased as punch to let you attach 'em... OK?

But, really, those are super-nice pieces.

Re: any history on the chain... I only know(?) that this was evidently donated to a Cham, Bavaria regional shooting club by the fellows listed on the back of the central medallion (see attached). Also, each of the attached shooting awards/medallions has a name and date of award. Rather interesting stuff. (BTW, the kette was acquired from Bob Grant @ bgrelics, motel buyer extraordinaire.)

Roger, thanks for showing the closeup pictures. Each of these Kettes that I have ever seen are truly a work of art and must have been a very proud Shooting King to be honored to wear for a few days in his local festival. I remember when Bob had this one and wondered what ever happened to it. Makes a great display piece for any Schutzen collection. See you at the SOS and thanks again for showing such a wonderful piece. James

Roger and James, more great stuff your showing, Thanks

Here's an array of shooting awards presented mainly by one small town "Teplitz", I bought them as a group and I believe they were all awarded to the same guy.

Gary, I need to plan a trip to your home sometime and find all the items you have hidden. You keep on bringing out super nice displayed pieces that would look great in any collectors room. Very nice shooting awards that the owner must have been very proud of, as i know you are. Keep showing the collection. James
