Both very nice EKs! And great pics, Joe, Ricardo, Nice job! Taking closeups like this is a tough task at times, I know from personal experience. Good job guys! Joe, that sounds like a great idea on starting a thread on these.

Ricardo, interesting with the base under the swastika. I have seen a few 13 marked examples without the square base also.
Very nice. --dj--Joe

Hi, I have a question. How often is an EK seen without any stamp on the ring. I was given a cross a good while back with NO markings. Could it be authentic or is it a junk? Thanks for your help. Peace, mark

Peace, mark Hi Mark, Some authentic EK2 was issued without markings stamped on the ring. I'm not specialist to identificate yours. But there is some people here or in anothers foruns with knowledge to autenticate it and identificate it's maker from pictures. Regards, Ricardo

Hi all, ... Perhaps this can be a start to a reference thread on EK II's. --dj--Joe Im game! A common medal, yes, but its a nice 1. Its an Eisernes Kreuz 1939, 2. Klasse, by J. J. Stahl. Ive tried to find anything on the meaning of "J.J.", but, couldnt find no name whatsoever anywhere. Not even in Mark Woods book. Stahl worked from Straburg, Elsa ( or L'Asace in French), that place left of the river Rhein that France + Germany quarrelled about for years. Its been French from the end of world war I, but was made German from 1940 when it was occupied to 1944 when it was liberated. French is the more popular language, but you can speak both languages there, cause L'Alsace is bicultural in everything. Anyway, heres "my" 122 cross. Looking at the pics, I sorta get the feeling that the inside corners of the ribbed ridge are more round(ed) then other crosses? Maybe Im mistaking. It has a bit of rust (2nd pic), a bit of paintdamage (1st pic) + a bit of a messy underside (last pic), but I like it a lot. Enjoy, KR

Hi Karin,
Very nice one, you're reason #122 crosses has a very rounded inner corners. I think your cross damages are honest signals from usage, parts from the cross history. Interesting observation about J.J. Stahl and his Strassbourg conection. My french teacher was from Strassbourg too and she was about fourteen when French was occupied by germans. She told me some interesting histories about her father participation at the local resistance.
Sincerely,
Ricardo

Je voudrais apprendre et amliorer utiliser cette langue. Votre professeur, y-est il aux tas Unies pendant votre course, ou etais toi l'Europe pour apprendre? Mais je vais rester poli d'autres lecteurs ... Your stories, lets PM a bit, the cross I posted has a history too, which I know very well! Maybe exchange stories? Ill be discrete, promise! But I love hearing stories like that ... la rsistance, awesome! Anyhow, Ill be PMing you Sincerely, KR

Hi LH! ... I collect the Iron Cross too ... I dont specificaly collect crosses, thers so much awesome stuff going around, I wouldnt know what to concentrate on? Some areas are getting clear(er) though, like KdF, but, crosses are way cool, the bikerthing helps a bit, they just look b... err, how do you say that, in a polite way? Like, not-good-backside-sit-on-part-of-mammal, in 1 word. But, theres SO much to know, and even if you think you know it all, it turns out, YOU DONT! Like, the box on the Mayer EK I I posted last week (or so)? That little square button? It tells us that the box was part of a pile of boxes from another box-maker then the usual 1 Mayer got them from? But, it still is a very genuine Mayer set together. Anyway, getting carried away ... .... Next week this will lands in. Do you like it .? Iron Cross 2nd Class "round 3" ...
Congrats on yer new find! Very nice 1 LH ... these round 3s are more rare or at least special then regular 3s, no? Very lovely, great condition! Please post more pics when you get it? Sincerely, KR
