Hi all, I've been reading about Fördernde Mitglieder der SS and their beautiful stickpins. Most of you already know this, but, perhaps for casual readers or people more new to it like me; In Holland, a similar movement took place, also to raise fundings for the SS, the Dutch SS in this case. However, Dutch regulations were much more strickt; begunstigende leden (dutch for fördernde Mitglieder) had to actually live up to the standards of SS members themselves, 'cause they might be needed to join the SS later on. So, the beguntigende leden were sort of reserve members. Now, in 1944, there were about 4000 begunstigende leden, who got renamed to "begunstigers" to loosen the ties between begunsigende leden and the actual SS members a bit, but that was more like political wordsplay by Mussert, the NSB guy? There were quarrels on different things between NSB + Dutch SS. NSB was National Socialist, but pro Holland, and Dutch SS was more like a "Großgermanisches Reich" kinda thing, and Holland to get part of that Großes Reich. Actually, Feldmeijer believed that Holland should have a leaderposition in it, 'cause Holland was more Old Germanic then Germany. But that's what he said! Anyhow, I wonder, were only some 4000 pins issued to begunstigers? So, having "BL" instead of "FM"? Are there only some 4000 BL pins in existence? Just curious ...some of you guys have such pins, thanks for showing these And these were numbered, just like FM pins. Can names be linked to any of these BL pins just like FM pins? I have no BL or FM stickpin to show you all, so, instead, for eyecandy Perhaps a little bit related, a little Oranje Blanje Blue pin. It was a special decoration worn by more radical NSB members. I cant find anywhere what some1 had to do to get such a pin. I read somewhere that Dutch SS members wore it too? So, Im not sure what the background is on these, but they're SO nice! Oranje Blanje Blue (orange, white + blue), the real colours of the Dutch flag. NOT red, white and (dark) blue as it is now. That flag was considered a sell-out! French colours! Not Dutch! The oranje-blanje-blue flags are called Prinsenvlaggen (Princeflags). Wondering, Karin-Renate

Similar to the Dutch situation, Norway had their Nazi movement and SS equivalent. The Germanske SS Norge had their pins and supporting members, like the FM SS, had theirs.
Here is my numbered supporting GSSN pin. I haven't tried to trace the number, but I am sure that it could be.

Thanks Joe, John, great info! I keep forgetting about searching the "old" forum? Probably 'cause I wasn't there. The images are gone, but, good read!
@John, that is a NICE pin right there! I see some markings, the big numbers 2023 probably the membernumber. Is 925s the maker? Or pinstyle? How many members did your SM SS have? Or GSSN? If GSSN, what does SM SS mean? Anyway, thanks for sharing this John!
Sincerely, Karin-Renate

Thanks so much Don! I have the 1st 3 in my notes, the last is very new to me! So, it comes to mind that Germany, Netherlands and Norway had memberpins, but Belgium didn't? Or are Belgian pins the same as Dutch pins? If this is so, how would you know? I guess the issue-number would have to be checked? Sincerely, Karin-Renate

Laakso is the silbversmith who made this pin.
As you surmised, 2023 is the member number.
925S indicates the grade of silver used, this type of measurement is still in use today and it indicates the silver content (925 parts out of 1,000).
I do not know what the initials R.P. stand for.

Hi all, Here is something WAY special! It is, as y'all very well know better then me ofcourse, a Begunstigende Leden stickpin, for the Dutch SS. The condition? Not very good, but its numbered, and this makes it unique. And it still is very clear what it is. Im very very stoked with this. The Dutch SS is an interesting subject I like learning about The condition also makes it very real, close + (I think) charming. Theres others out there who feel the same, so, I hope these pics are enjoyable. Enjoy, Karin-Renate

I have two of them, but unmarked. They came out of a grouping liberated out of Bad Tölz, along with a bunch of other stuff. All of it was stapled on a German flag.

When I have some time I will dig through my "foreign" box as from memory, I don't think that I ever got around to picking one of these Dutch pieces up!!!! I can't imagine why as they are lovely pieces....
