Hi Paul! It IS, aint't it? Found it by accident ... I love those stories! Its fun to look for them. Here! Not a "Dolchgeschichte", but, bigger, and maybe fun too? About Ypres in Belgium, where they found a tunnelsystem from the 1st worldwar last year. As a hopefully interesting aside - In the 1970's I was contacted by a young man who had recently been stationed in Munich with the U.S. Army. He worked in the office of a large building that had formerly been a government building of some type during the N.S.zeit. When they tore up the old sewer system, they found literally thousands of pins, stickpins, medals and miscellanous insignia that had been dumped into the sewer system. He said that everyone working there hauled armloads of the stuff home. I bought a large grocery bag full of items he had sent home. Although there was nothing of exceedingly high value, the sheer volume of over 400 items made it quite a find! The items ranged in condition from "really ratty" to "excellent", although most of the pinbacks themselves were rusted off. I do remember that most of the stickpins (and there were a lot of them) were in pretty good condition. Anyway, for $20.00 I decided to take a chance.

I went on the 3rd Reich walking tour of Munich(highly recommended) when I was in Germany 2 years ago. I bet the tour guides would love to have that piece of trivia to add to their spiel. Jim

Sorry, I no longer remember if he even knew for certain what the building was. I vaguely recall some comment about government or party offices. I do know that the vast majority of the items were party affiliated.
