Ron, You are making me hungry for the chase. I love the Schutzen stuff, but find it a little harder to acquire than the hunting items. Nice piece. James

This bayonet came from the west coast The Grenadier. He called I bought with no arguement. Also, a similar one just sold in the April auction at Hermann Historica. Did anyone see what it brought? The blade wasn't as impressive as this one with the blued background, but the hilt was the same style ugly head. I love this bayonet and Houston has been after me to sell, but no.

The bottom picture is missing the honor hilt bayonet Vern??? Where is it?

I tried to buy that piece on Herman's, it bought around $5500 give or take.

Das 18. Infanterie-Regiment wurde bei der Bildung des 100.000 Mann-Heeres der Reichswehr am 1. Januar 1921 aus Verbänden der ehemaligen königlich-preußischen Armee im Wehrkreis VI aufgestellt. Für die Aufstellung wurden hauptsächlich Abgaben der Reichswehr-Schützen-Regimenter 13, 14 und 31 verwendet. Garnisonsstadt des Regimentsstabes war Paderborn, im Wehrkreis VI. In der gleichen Stadt waren auch das I. Bataillon und die 13. (Minenwerfer) Kompanie vom Regiment stationiert. Das II. Bataillon vom Regiment war in Münster, ebenfalls Wehrkreis VI, stationiert. Der Stab vom III. Bataillon war mit der 11. und 12. Kompanie vom Regiment in Bückeburg, ebenfalls Wehrkreis VI, stationiert. Die 9. und die 10. Kompanie vom Regiment waren dagegen in Hameln, ebenfalls Wehrkreis VI, beheimatet. Das Ausbildungs-Bataillon vom Regiment wurde in Detmold, ebenfalls Wehrkreis VI, stationiert. Mit der Aufstellung wurde das Regiment der 6. Division der Reichswehr unterstellt. Taktisch unterstand das Regiment dem Infanterieführer VI.
Die Traditionsträgerschaft im Regiment war dann bis zur Erweiterung der Reichswehr wie folgt verteilt:
