Hello all,
Lets see some of those cased badges and medals out there. Here is a cased EK2 that I used to have, if I remember right it was marked on the ring #20.

How about a couple of blood orders. One of these cases is totally trashed, but funnily I love it just as much as the better ones I have.

Good looking KO EKI. Smile

Cased Blood Orders, very nice! Smile

Cased Social Welfare Awards, Very nice! Smile I also remember that interesting cased mining ind. stickpin, Don.

Thanks all for showing such outstanding items. I had the camera out yesterday however a nonfunctional object at the rear of the camera Roll Eyes caused poorly produced pictures. I will attempt again at a later date.

Duane, do you mean the Memel medal itself is controversial or the fact that it resides in a maroon case?

I was referring to the controversy over different variations of the medal itself. It is in a maroon case as I found it while stationed in FRG in the early 80's. I believe the general consensus is they were issued in red, although I have seen others in maroon cases. I have no certainty that the case it came in is original to the medal. Please share your thoughts on the medal variants and cases Joe. Best regards, Duane

Duane, I will attempt to scan my example. Can you post a close up of yours obverse and reverse? Might be a good idea to start a separate topic. There might be an old topic, I will have a look/see.
There was, it was yours. Smile

It may take awhile to get a decent scan from me. Roll Eyes

I do remember some of the discussions. But do not recall any consensus.
Something to do with the m's vs. a some what more stylized (curved) m. Also the slant of the G.
Also the number and or shape, of acorns at the base of the reverse.
I am resonably secure with my example. Roll Eyes

Mine came sans case. As to what they were issued in, again, who now knows?

Link to discussion.

Yes, all different including S&L, W&L, L/19, '20', '26', '15', and 'unknown'.

The unknown is especially nice as it has a beautiful 'egg-shell' finish and a non-magnetic core.

Here's a closer pic of the S&L. I see collectors raving about the 'Russian Hoard' which has driven their prices in to orbit but you can find EK1's of this quality from other makers and I never pay more than normal prices.
