Dave Cameron Posted 07 December 2003 21:13 Just noticed something on a Gend. tunic Ive stored away, pictured below...functional cuffs. Now, the right cuff has an additional button (Black, not aluminum) on the outside of the reverse?

You seem to have a model 1938 Gendarmerie Feldbluse with adjustable cuffs and adjustable & removable belt hooks. Does this tunic have a first aid pouch and removable shoulder boards? Is it dated? Show us a picture.

It looks like you were a good boy too for Santa to bring you such a nice warm coat this winter. Is your greatcoat made of the lightweight hard finished wool with a sateen lining? I have a lightweight Schupo Medical coat made of the same material if it is.

Posted 01 January 2004 09:33 Gary,
After looking at several hundred of these things you develop an eye for them. Sort of like being able to spot a WKC manufactured KS98 bayonet from 10 feet away because of their manufacturing quirks. Of course, as soon as you get too ****y someone shows you something you have never seen before. I have eaten enough crow over the years to know if you chew slowly...they are not so bad. In my opinion, Santa brought you a scarce greatcoat. I very seldom see the lightweight Offiziere Mantel as opposed to the heavier wool greatcoat. The fact that it is for the Gendarmerie is an added bonus on the rarity scale.
I will post my lightweight Mantel on the Schupo thread.

Posted 16 February 2004 13:33 Gendarmerie Offizier feldbluse for active service, cut in the military manner. This tailor made field blouse is manufactured of police green whipcorp material and has the same color collar and cuffs as the body of the tunic. The six button tunic also has pleated breast pockets while the lower patch pockets are not pleated in typical police fashion.

Posted 16 February 2004 13:44 Machine sewn Gendarmerie Officer collar tabs with dull aluminum Litzen on orange backing. The subdued aluminum insignia was often worn by officers on active service (combat) tunics in order to be less conspicuous in the field. The field tunic collar is the same color and material as the body of the tunic and is closed with two hooks and eyes.

Posted 16 February 2004 14:03 Back of officer's field tunic showing the two panel cut with a slit tail. The same color cuffs are manufactured as French cuffs instead of functional cuffs with buttons. Note also that the collar is manufactured in two pieces and has a very fine seam in the back just above the center seam in the tunic body.

Posted 17 February 2004 21:17 Thanks Gentlemen. Gary,I envy the condition of your goodies. Dave, you are correct of course...I reverted to Schupo-speak out of force of habit. Pat, I have some uniforms displayed on torso forms and some on clothing store racks. I buy the four arm cascading racks at the used store fixture outlet and they work very well. Over the years, I have gone to about every clothing store close-out sale I can find and pick up forms, hangers, etc at less than wholesale. Leaves me more cash to spend on something to put on the displays.

Gary8 Posted 12 April 2004 17:09 Here is the newest item, I do not usually trust these side caps but this one is a little darling, all the stitching is in the right place, but what capped it all for me was the lining, if you look closely you can see small yellow spots caused by mold. Very hard to reproduce.

Posted 13 April 2004 11:13 Gary,
A very nice side cap. I have a Lubstein Gendarmerie side cap that is dated 1938 that is made in exactly the same manner. Does yours have a bamboo stiffiner in the crown to hold its shape?
Johann,
Nice uniform! You need a brown belt to go with it and you can put your black belt on a Schupo tunic. Your tunic appears to be the later style with darker brown collar and cuffs. Do the cuffs have functional buttons and is it dated?

Posted 13 April 2004 22:05 Thanks George. I'll find a nice brown belt rig. Cuff buttons are fully functional. Tunic is placed and dated to Wien, 43. Tschako is marked Obw.d.G.d.R. Aleis Lantscham. ? hard to read. I'll take a few pics.
