I got this cap in a trade. I'd appreciate any comments about it. I believe it's original. I also got 23 Afrika Corps rings (including 1 SS), a Sonderverband 0.5 Stein, AK Cuff Title, a DAK Navy Pith Helmet, a AFRIKA Cuff Title Document, and 2 DAK Malaria Tablets tins dated 1942. If you want pictures of any of these items, please let me know. CHUCK

Here's a picture of the theater made DAK rings. The SS rings is in Row 2, the second from the left. It's dated 1941, has SS on one side and DAK on the other.

First off, Welcome aboard~!
I hate to be the first nay sayer, but since you asked... On first look, I have my doubts about that eagle. maybe its just the pictures. Can I see a pic of the inside of the grommets?
Regarding the ring, I didn't think there were any SS in Africa, just some SD personnel, and I doubt they would have been under the jurisdiction of the DAK.
Again, these are only my opinions, I am curious to hear what others think.

can't help you with the cloth.. But on the rings ,even with the bad photo I can make out a few bogus ones as well as a couple fantasy pieces... If you'd like maybe post some close ups on the ring forum..thanks ,G. http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=042090573&f=074097573

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the field cap is repro...in my opinion. Insignia is readily available repro and the cloth the cap is fabricated from looks wrong too.

Hi G., Give me the Row # starting at the top and then the Ring #, starting from l. - r. and I'll try to get close-up pictures of the rings you want to see. I posted pictures of the SS Ring... CHUCK

Chuck, please if you can post the rings on the ring forum so the members there can use for reference. I also suggest posting that stein on the stein forum, http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums?a=corfrm&cf=1833086486 http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=042090573&f=074097573 That SS DAK ring is an old fantasy ring.. If you look close the skull is from the old reproductions of the SS Honor Ring!.. When the seller years ago needed something 'different' to offer he just mated it to a cast reproduction DAK ring [very easy to do, wax techniques] add some bogus band stampings and Wha La instant SS DAK ring. Some that are probably a problem: Top row, left 2nd row, 2nd from left and right 4th row, right 5th row, left,,2nd from left,,right 6th row, right. Can't really see the others but if you want to start those are the ones I recognize the 'handi work' and/or reproduction/fantasy....,G.
