I guess there is some good reason i collect the older pieces and that is because I feel I have a better understanding of what I am acquiring. For example on ebay right now is 350037523742 original old WW2 Forestry and 350037525389 Military Forestry hunting dagger with the eickhorn etched emblem. Even though I have read Houston`s guide about a thousand times, is there something about these two pieces that is not quite right? James

James, I saw both those pieces and I'm keeping an eye on them, not because they are genuine WWII hirschfngers, nothing could be further from the truth, I'm interested in who buys them and for how much they go for. I gave up a while back contacting high bidders or the sellers to warn them after I was either ignored or told I don't know what I'm talking about. The Holler is an Atwood copy and post war and the Eickhorn is just a post war Hirschfnger, a product that Eickhorn produced for the forresters of the time(1950 onwards I think). What I would like to know is more about Atwood and his copy's.

Thank you Gary. I somehow knew both of these were not as they should be. It is amazing what some people will pay for items without knowing what they really are. I have collected North American Indian Paleo period artifacts for about 40 years as my most serious hobby and investment. Talk about fakes!!WOW, you would not believe and I have seen people pay thousands for pieces that I knew were not authentic. I also gave up on trying to help people with my knowledge because 80% of the time they got mad at me for tying to help them. Again, thanks for the info. That is what this forum is all about. James
