Hello, Just got in my first Firemans bayo knot but the dot is not pink it has the bullion like you would see on a Army knot. Would this be for a LT. or a higher ranking officer it's the first one i seen like this and any info would help here.
Thanks, Eric

The knot itself is in near mint condition although a little aged with patina it's an excellent buy for the money. It's a keeper!

Eric,
Could be a manufacturers variation. We see all sorts of variations from knot to knot, different size apertures & different color shades of the bulbs. Different color shades of the cat's anus, why not? The knot looks otherwise correct & period.

Thanks Billy,
Never doubted it being original just never seen this variation before, kinda neat to find these different style knots.

It could be a manufacturer's variation or it could be that the pink felt is gone and this is the underlay piece. There might be traces of the felt under the edges of the knot body. It is not an Officer knot. This pattern is for enlisted and NCO personnel.
