These pieces will give you and overview of the Eickhorn Auerhahn clam shells. They all seem to have variations that go with the time of their manufacturing. The trade mark stampings on them are very heavy to slight on the different pieces. One unit does have an etched trade mark that has been questioned as to why it has a pre war scabbard with the 9 point stage on the bottom and the pre war type of tang nut like all of the others. The blade on this one is one half inch thick and the whole dagger is in excellent condition. The blade is deep and clear so its addition to the group adds a little extra flair. The stag cutlass is by HORESTER SOLIGEN and the clam shell has a strong brass look and the casting is deep and clear. It also has the nine point stag on the base of the scabbard. All of the pieces have a slightly used look.
This grouping of hirschfangers along with my previous one on ROE BUCK CUTLASSES AND DAGGERS should help you in your collecting with some knowledge that many dagger companies were supplying million man armies and the precision that is always most desired is not always there.

IMO the so called 8 vrs.9 points on the lower fitting is not important as a tool for authenticity. It only indicates wear of the diestamping tool, Study will reveal that some have 9 there-- just very light. Others won't show and appear to be 8. Also-different stamps were used and some were stamped deeper than others. Also some left over period parts were used on early post war pieces. See my free guide for the correct information needed for determining authenticity.
