I will post a picture asap, until then, any information on a white cuff-title. It has a shield/cross to the left of the text, on the right side of the text is a shield with an unidentified symbol. the border is a sectioned pair of black lines. I purchased this as part of an estate lot. I haven't seen a lot of white titles any insight?

need photos Mann!

Thats a pretty rare cufftitle. Awarded late in the war, March of 45!
Most were on the short side, not full lenth. They were embroidered. One side has the Baltic cross, the other a Moose head. There were supposedly local variations made also and its hard to determine originals sometimes.. Good photos will be needed front AND back...,G.

thanks G! I will be joining the G.D.Com membership ranks. {I will finally be able to post a decent pic.} My "Kurland" title is much like the one you posted, if not identical. Salty.

I do think that some of these cufftitles were stitched at location , since I have one with remains of Old German Script Newspaper as a backing behind the letters .

I've seen a few of these in my travels in East Europe.. whats an original and whats fake?!,it the question all the time..

The German made embroidered ones are long or full lenth, also the white is on the brite side and the black letters are nice and full and dark..
The countless 'local' variations are usually woven and short and the white looks dirty even on mint examples...

On yours I think you should do some basic tests first. Black light the white areas first... Then, burn test a few different pieces of material to check for synthetics..
Please how about a complete shot of the whole title, a front and back...

To show you what your up against here's a now famous photo that circulated around the sites a while ago.. These are all supposedly originals collected from Russian vets!

Thanks for the info G! If "wishing" this cuff was real, made it so, it would be "THREE"! {if it has a chance I'll post full length pics.?} Your knowledge here is an anchor to many GDC members! Testing.right, the next step..,in the words of the terminator, "I'll Be Back" Pauli

thanks for the kind words Pauli,,I've been collecting for a while and got beat up early on with fakes and such,,like many of us here,, and just hate to see the newer guys get beat..

Remember you have 3 materials to burn test, the black,, actual band,, and inner lining.
You can only black light the 2 white materials ,band and inner..

The complete shot will help a lot.

All four fibers contained in this cuff pass the "burn to ash" test. Dead, to black light, {in as much as "white" can be} next to modern white fabrics. Forum readers as well as time may shine some more light. Until then..I'm going to believe its the RD! Smile Thank You Gaspare! Pauli please excuse my photo siZiNg issues. Razz
