Ok,
Still cleaning out my cupboards and came across a few spares that I photographed - Torley, Luttges and Schlimbach. Any idea on the rarity of these makers ?
Thanks Jonathan

Really,a few spares, what else have you got in your cupboard, you really should invest in a Mcsarr list,or do you already have one! Some very nice looking daggers, but what is the condition of the whole article. Can you post pics.of the dagger/scabbard for us to see please. Ivan.

What a disappointing response, there was a time when this forum was very much a place to share info.
Ivan, I don't know whether it's your intention to offend but no, I don't have a Mcsarr guide, why the hell would I post if I did ? And pray tell why on earth would I wish to share further pics of these daggers when I get no construcive response ? To answer your first question, a brief check through past threads will give a hint of what else resides in my collection, most of it is simply too valuable to keep at home so it languishes in a bank at present, unlike my spares which stay in a cupboard...satisfied ?

Thanks Pat, glad to hear they are rare ! I'm afraid that they won't come upto your mint standards, but then few daggers do and those are now sitting in your collection Jonathan

the McSarr guide probably took a lot of time to create..the creator offers it for sale, and for a resonable price I believe..
I have always felt that it was very undermining to the author of the list for people to answer McSarr related inquiries on the forum..If you are curious, buy the list..I believe it is out of line to ask for this info for free, and very much out of line to act indignant when the suggestion is made to purchase your own..
As a side note, those are great daggers!

Right once and for all, I have taken some pics of daggers to put on the forum for people to see, a reference so to speak, I thought it was a good idea ! At waht point did I ask for the Mcsarr rating ??? I simply asked a basic question as to the approx rarity of them that was all...If this is too much for you I'll remove these pics and keep my trap shut. Read Ivan's post again.
And I wonder why Denny left ?

Jonathan,
Really super daggers. I thank you very much for sharing them with us. Some makers I have never seen. In any case...the list..its usefull that's all. And I assure you the ONLY thing not openly shared on GDC is the maker mark rarity.
Your response to Ivan was a little strong..I don't think his intention is to offend you.
Anyway thanks again for showing those maker marks. Would love to see your "bank stash" to..If you still want to share.
regards,
PJ
Kind regards,
Peter Jan

If I have overstepped the mark I apologise to Ivan, perhaps I've read the wrong things into his comments.

Well Johnathan,I did upset you,and I can assure you that it was not and never will be my intention to upset you or any other member of this fantastic facility we have here.I have not been a member for that long and to date have not seen any of your posts, however I will look at them now and familiarise myself with your history.I nearly told you what the Mcsarr list said about your daggers and realised that I would be stepping on the toes of those who compiled it and sell it for a nominal amount,I find it very handy, well recommended.I did say and still do marvel at your daggers on this thread, any one of us would have them in our collection in a trice.I accept your apology,I was only trying to help.Like I say,if you need a hand clearing out that cupboard then I am your man. No harm done Johnathan, what is the account number at the bank? Regards,Ivan.

Three real nice and rare SA's there JONATHAN. CONGRATS!! And thank you for posting them and sharing them with us. So many have stopped posting their items on this site because of some of the unknown "rules" such as this: you can quote rarity scales from the "Fisher" guide but you better not try it with the "McSAAR". Funny thing is a while back you can see quotes from both references and nobody complained. And it was interesting too, since we could see the variation of "rarity" from these two references. But those were more happy times at GDC. I'm not trying to step on any toes here. But this is my opinion so please guys on the "top", let's have some air back in the room..It's OK.. we'll Love ya for it. Let's bring in a little joy. -wagner-

Jonathan .....WOW...You have some REAL "Family Jewels" with these 3 Super Rare makers(!) Thanks for Sharing them with us...
We all know of the 'TBR ..To Be Released' new SA / NSKK Book that T. Wittmann is slowly writing ...so, maybe it might not be too late for you to contact Tom & see if he has examples of your 3? My take (IMHO) is that the subject of SA/NSKK Makers is SO complex, that it's taking a Looooooong time for Tom to put in all of the finishing touches. Txs, Dave ......dblmed
