HEY GUYS
Just picked this bad boy up, and wanted to get some opinions on it. From other examples I have looked at, and research I have done I feel this one is good to go. Wanted to hear what the experts have to say on this. Thanks.

Yep, looks like the Eickhorn pattern etch, I see no problems. How's the rest of thedagger? crossguards, grip type, etc?

Hey Red
Just took the the photos of the rest of the Dagger. The handle seems to be an NPEA Handle. I would say that it might have been added on latter, but I took it apart, and there is rust on the tang and the bottom of the cross guard, and also rust stains on the bottom of the handle. That makes me think this guy has been together for along time + the fittings were super tight. Any one want to chime in on this.

Bench marked or not the crossguards IMHO are original to the blade. The grip is definitely NOT.

Yes, the fit of the grip to the lower guard is noticeably "off." However, looking at the grunge on the lower part of the grip and inside the lower guard, the grip could be a period replacement. In any case, the poor grip fit, to my eye, is a distraction. The rest of the dagger looks great.

I do not like the looks of the inscription just does not have it. One thing for sure with that handle it has been messed with.It is a parts dagger now and will be a parts dagger 10 years from now.

Other than the grip that was replaced a long time ago, I see no problems, crossguards are "HE" marked which is also correct. The grip could have well been replaced period, it could be a more tasteful attempt to de-nazify it, no one will ever know...
Zorro, I'd be interested to know what's wrong with the inscription, it looks correct to me, the motto also appears to be in the right position on the blade.

Only having pictures it is a hard call on any of this stuff. I know dagger reproductions have improved greatly in recent years. The inscription looks too thick, off the center ridge and seems to lay on top of the blade. The blade seems to have a somewhat poor fit to the crossgaurd. Not all of them have it but it has no number stamped on the crossgaurd. The main problem is the handle which is not open to conjecture.

The dedication seems unusually deep and dark for a blade that looks to have been well rusted then cleaned. Maybe just the photos ?
