I don't know who the distributor is, but the manufacturer is P.D. Luneschloss ( or at least the one I have identical to the leader's is a P.D. Luneschloss).

Ron, Well done, that was my surprise, please post a picture of your hirschfänger and it's makers mark, here's the distributor with a very ground ricasso just showing the remnants of the PDL mark.I have never seen such a ground ricasso like this.

Early Lüneschloss initials in the oval? You've got a good eye and another pair of super pieces, especially the gilting on the clam.

Billy,I just got the stag grip piece in from Germany a few days ago, as I'm sure you know buying anything from pictures is a bit of a minefield, I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than what I had hoped, better than the officers piece which I have had for a few years now though and thats no slouch. It wasn't until I ran my finger over the ricasso that I noticed it had been ground, that made me look very hard at that area, never seen grinding quite like this before, I had thought that all distributors bought their goods with a plain blade, obviously not.The early oval stylised PDL mark is so distinctive that it had to be them even though such a small portion remained. I hope Ron can post a picture of his hirschfänger and the mark just to compere.

I've never seen grinding like that as well although I admit I'm not the hirschfänger maven you are. Most of the distributor marked bayonets I've got are single marked examples with only the distributor's name appearing although I do have a number of dual marked pieces that retain the manufacturer's logo.
It would surprise me that a distributor would grind off the manufacturer's logo since keeping it there might convey to the potential buyer an impression of quality and tradition, especially with old Solingen names like Eickhorn or Lüneschloss. Would this possibly indicate that the distributors were in direct sales competition with the manufacturers themselves?

Billy, Perhaps "Stock" thought they were big enough to grind the makers mark off to promote their own company. They got away with it anyway and I suppose after they had bought them they were intitled to do what they wanted.
From the information I got back from the seller of the stag grip piece, it seems it belonged to a senior-forester from Lippe who worked for Prinz Armin.(thats straight from Willi's translation).It's certainly good enough for that, he offered this information without any prompting from me and after I had bought it so I tend to believe him.
I never thought I would find a stag grip to match the officers version, I doubt these were cheap at the time.

Gary, sorry, but my Forestrys are in the bank vault. The Luneschloss mark on mine is the typical sword through the helmet and I feel that these were all hand finished and quality. Your two are the only ones I have seen besides the one I have.
I have several of the forestry pieces: Clemen & Jung Brass hilt with eagle and swastika, Alcoso Leader with the metal scabbard, both style Eickhorns with the delux short leader and the Luneschloss - all bought directly from veterans in my motel buys.
I have found way more Forestrys than Hunters.
