Hi Everyone, this is just an observation, if you check the photos they were taken with an HP Photosmart 315 camera on the 27-0506 at 13-16. only a few hours before they were posted,So if they are not Donnies daggers he got the photos pretty quick, regards nats http://members.lycos.nl/stantheman/

I will let you know as soon as I can.
Thanks, Dave
Dave, So what your saying is the guy posted his own daggers and got dragged through the mud on a public forum by a lynch mob bought on by a well respected dealer. It is safe to say thats right? He does own them?. Made the guy feel like a retard and questioned his integrity flat out?. Whats the point? There is a big fat crow for someone to sautee if he owns those daggers whether they are correct or not/ Unreal

Guys,
Please don't draw any conclusions or make any judgements (sp?) for the moment - one way or another. Give me a bit of time to untangle the knot, call the several folks concerned, and get back to you.

Here is an update. My apologies for the delay, but it took some time to put things together: I have confirmed: 1. That the daggers were sold to a Texas collector many years ago by two different dealers. 2. One dealer sold the chained SA High Leader while the other dealer sold the remaining two daggers. I have spoken to both those dealers, and confirmed this. 3. The email that I got was from that collector, saying that the daggers were originally bought with the financial assistance of Donnie Buckner and that those daggers have been in Donnie's collection since 1998. The sender of the email asked me to respect his privacy and GDC will do that. I think that Vern will add some comments to this thread soon. I will probably add some myself, once I figure out what to say. Dave

if this is so, I propose all participants in this thread take up a collection to purchase a nice "peace offering" to be sent to Donnie with GDC apologies )

I frequently get emails asking why collectors do not post photos of rare daggers on the web. I think the reaction to Donnie's post provides everyone with the reason. Instead of enjoying the photos and learning from the experience, the daggers were branded fake and the guy was accused of posting stolen photos. This on a forum that prides itself as being a friendly place to learn and share information about our hobby. I just want to say that I am extremely disappointed in the posts from some of our members and moderators.

And as a side note, the NSKK Honor Dagger has been confirmed as original, as are the SA Chained Leader and the SA High Leader. We have really missed a chance to get some good closeup shots of some very rare daggers.

Hi Gustavo nice gesture but I would think that Donnie would say to all kiss my ...! I hope that he proves me wrong and I hope that he returns but I do not hold out much hope. Sad day for GDC community. Those other forums must be having a field day with this one. This thread has just confirmed the worst of those allegations. If the daggers had been proven fake or had he been caught in a lie we would all be having a good laugh and pat on the back. Just my thoughts, Ryan

I didnt really participate in the thread, but I feel terrible for Donnie, because i believe the folks in GDC are generally generous and kind people, and the thread in question is not representative. I would be happy to chip into this "peace offering fund". Donnie seems like a nice guy, and would hopefully accept sincere repentance and apology...

In all fairness Wotan did not jump on the bandwagon and did support Donnie. What is done is done and it is time to move on from here and prevent it from happening again. Greg it is unfair to paint all with your brush. The only person that should be upset is Donnie. Many did not jump in but more still did not rise to his defence. No use pretending the otherwise now. Respect, Ryan

This thread needn't be locked down for those who are embarrassed by their actions or inactions as the case may warrant. Having said this, this forum has a code of conduct and foolish name calling and insults have no place here. I would say that apologies are warranted here or expulsion from this site is justified. There is no need to fan the fire guys, time to do some growing up. There are sites enough for pre-schoolers cheers and respect, Ryan

Ryan - I do not agree. I think enough is enough when people chime in after the dust is settled and apologies have been made...
The fact of the matter is that some RARE & BEAUTIFUL daggers were posted. They are so RARE that they were called into question since old posts suggested that some repo's may have been bought.
Once this was brought up posters split up into two camps and exchanged barbs which only fanned the fire.
While this was hapening someone made a simple suggestion about a simple way to prove they if fact had the daggers which some agreed with and other took offense.
Now people are using this thread to make attacks against others so that is why I feel it should be locked and let what was posted stand...
Now with that being said it would have been nice to see Donnie post the pictures as he said he would and let all see what only a handful will ever be able to own.
As I said earlier the ball is in Donnies court and I hope he chooses to stand up to the plate and hit the HOME RUN he is supposed to vs. fading away.
I am here because of some very nice people (who I communicate on and off the forum - they know who they are) that are very helpful to those that are just starting out in this hobby and will stay for that very reason.
Let us all stop the BS here and be done with this - I rather see your daggers... or read yor opinions on items related to the hobby vs. keeping this dead horse alive because it is beginning to STINK.
Regards,
John

I have several friends on both sides of the fence and it is really sad to see what's happening. I have willingly stayed quiet on the subject 'cause I do not wish to go into any fraternal fighting. One way or another, JR has offered his honest apology to Donnie for what has happened, though it might be to premature to do so. You have to give credit to JR for having the courage to apologies on a public forum. Many people never would've done it and would've prefered to stay quiet. The only way to solve this problem, would be for Donnie to show proof that he owns those daggers. By doing so, he has absolutely nothing to loose, except getting greater respect from his fellow comrades. However, I could also understands that he wishes to stay quiet.

FOR THE RECORD when I mentioned expulsion from the site I was specifically referring to words used such as "dickhead" and moron. I was not referring to anyone's comments to Donnie. To suggest expulsion for this would have been ludicrous. I hope that this clarifies things Bob, cheers, Ryan

Dear moderators
Have the ground rules changed now? Name calling allowed?
BTW, JR, once more you have shown us all what a gentleman you are. We all make mistakes, especially in the heat of debate...but few have the courage and humility to admit them and apologize as openly and thoroughly as you.

Gustavo,
No, the rules have mot changed.
You can convey any opinion you want, but you cannot call people names, insult them, or use language calculated to belittle them. The occasional borderline comment in the heat of discussion often happens, but the thread above was way over the line.

Thanks Dave, thats clear.
Just out of curiosity, how do moderators act when a member calls another member "dickhead", "moron" etc... Do you issue a warning in private to the name caller?

You can express any opinion you want here, but you may not do it in such a fashion that insults other members or their nationalities, or in a way that is calculated to demean, belittle, or make fun of them.

Has anyone taken the time to read what John wrote ? All THIS NAME CALLING,VERY UN-PROFESSIONAL. The administrators gave Denny thirty days off, because he went against the code. But it is OK with the Administration for all this name calling ? Tommy

Tommy, Not everyone is professional, thats what makes the world go around. Denny is a straight shooter and does not care, you either respect it or dont but I dont think he cares what people think. Personally I like that as I would rather be taken from the front than shot from the back, with Denny there is no worry. But it appears there may be a double standard in his regard, seeing that no one else was chastised. Have a good night, Kris

Gee, it looks like a guy with the ultimate dagger collection got scared off before he could post pictures of it! Seems like there was some jealousy involved by other posters???? Unfortunately for the rest of us, I don't think begging him to come back & post pics will do any good - but I would like to see them if they turn up elsewhere - seems like his only mistake was getting Wittmann mixed up with another dealer.

Tommy - if they did read my post then they decided to remain silent which speaks for itself. Too bad because if you weed out all the junk there are some very clear points as I outlined.
As you can seeit is still going on with people making assumptions about "jealousy" which is so far from the facts it is a joke.
Additionally it the one person who can put an end to this either has quite or can careless because if the apology is accepted and the pictures are posted we can alll admire the RARE & Beautiful!
...end of line...

This guy was smarter than everyone else by buying the best & hanging on to it for 30 years. Then a big group of collectors & dealers ganged up on him. That's what it looked like - & any sort of "well he wrote those dumb-sounding posts in the past" is just poison-pen. It's just the type of camoflage I'd use in shark infested waters. It looks like some people got out-slickered in the collecting game & just can't take it.

My first post on this saga: IF we had all remained a little patient, maybe all the questions would have been resolved with Denny posting further pictures and the questions about the pieces would have been much clearer to all of us. We would have all had a better experience. All to often we are quick to chime in and make comments we later regret and can't take back. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned from this and other bad experiences on this site. Ron Weinand Weinand Militaria

I have also just read all the comments on this saga. As I am mentioned in the early part of this debate I can understand exactly where Donnie is comming from. I also posted pics of rare full and partial SS daggers with one members response "FAKE". In fairness the rest of the members came to my defence but it still does't really make me want to post any more pics. I still post comments but only now on specific topics. I was always told to stay quiet and let people think your an idiot than open you mouth and prove it. Obviously a number of our forum members should follow this simple rule. In your case HANG IN THERE DONNIE and sorry I have not commented sooner but I have only now read the posts concerning this whole sorry saga.

I have just read through this post and can understand members asking questions and requesting more photos of these rare items, and everyone has the right to their opinion regarding originality of these items. What I find disappointing is the behaviour of members who rush to post snide remarks.I just hope they are as quick to apologise to Donnie but I doubt it.
