Hello,

I noticed today that a German dealer,he whose name shall not be spoken, has just sold two officer's eagles on white for the astounding price of 650 Euro each! That's $850 for a loose eagle, $1700 for the two.

I am totally without words. This is absolutely the highest price I have ever seen for any TR cloth eagle, particularly a police eagle, whose sales value was a fraction of the amount paid only a few short years ago.

I am certainly glad I acquired my eagles before this insane rise in value. It does not portend well for my being able to ever complete the collection...........I will never have THAT much money to spend for a tiny piece of cloth.

Regards,
Bill Unland

Bill..a lot of times, the prices asked and the prices realised are different, sometimes they are pulled from sale, or there is a part cash part trade situation..

I agree though..cloth should not be this expensive...especially non SS cloth (which i think is too high..)

That seems a bit steep to me as well. I would not pay that amount but I suppose if a fellow had a white officer jacket and needed one...

Dear George,

Perhaps, but two? I have overpaid many a time, but this is really getting up there. Wasn't that long ago you could buy a tunic for that kind of money.

I am just disappointed that these things are getting priced very quickly out of my, and many collector's reach. I got back into police as it was still "reasonable" compared to other cloth, but no more I fear.

Bill,

I agree wholeheartedly that some prices are outrageous. I simply will not pay more than I think is fair. If the price is too high, I let it go.

George

Kursk

Unfortunately, as Bill U. has so eloquently stated, the polizei have now become the "SS-Lite". Dealers have apparently embraced this like a politician with a photo op.

Regretfully I didn't get into the police collecting arena sooner and I think I will have many "holes" in my collection. I believe I, along with many others, will quickly be "out-priced" on many pieces and I will have to console myself with Bill's "Tales of the $40.00 Police Eagles".

Andrew
