This one is currently running on Eban & although the straps are leather, I would think it's a made up set using Heer hardware since a Fire Official's hangers have pebbled fittings & an HJ Leader's are smooth with no oakleaves. I think it pays to watch certain sellers too, this one had a very questionable sawback fireman's bayonet by the never before seen manufacturer F. D1ck. From the pictures, it certainly appeared the sawback was a postwar embellishment. I suppose the initial asking price would be extremely low were the hangers an original HJ Leader's or Fire Official's hangers. I wanted to save the pics here for posterity. The reverse of the leather straps looks (to me anyway) that they were constructed recently. http://cgi.ebay.com/German-HJ-or-Fire-officer-dagger-ha...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Those are obviously "parts"--but the top fitting is VERY unusual.

The seller says they are reproductions.

Zorro, You're quite right & I can't fault the seller for making such a disclosure. That said, I still think that this set, despite being priced "well", could certainly fool some people after the fact. The seller is also selling some reproduction Forestry hangers. I was thinking the lower fittings seem to resemble HJ Leader hangers. http://cgi.ebay.com/German-Forestry-dagger-hanger_W0QQi...ZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

I think fire official were seen on HJ leader daggers on occasion. The only difference is the pebbling.Leather fire hangers are not that common and you would think they would be.Look at the army hanger they come in all shapes and configuations why not the same for other daggers?

Good point, there are plenty of Heer dagger hanger variations & I suppose it's possible there were variations of Fire Official's hangers & HJ Leader's hangers out there although I've never seen the hangers swapped out. Both are pretty rare & I've seen only a few of each.
But when you're talking about a set of high end hangers that are "nontextbook", I think most people are generally going to be very skeptical when considering the cost of an item that someone could have just made up.

Billy is right. With the big bucks usually required to obtain rare hangers-they better be textbook if you want to get your money back and/or make a profit in the future.
