I have a parade mount (with 1914 EK2) gold colored medal that shows an angel "bestowing" a wreath to a WW1 german soldier with bared bowed head in field dress. The ribbon is red/white/black to which a metal wreath and sword is attached.

I believe it is an "honor legion" medal for WW1 veterans.

Can someone fill me in a little more about this medal???

Sorry I have no pic but maybe the description is enough.

Thanks,

Rod

Medal, Deutsche Ehrendenkmunze des Weltkrieges, with the sword and wreath, Kampfabzeichen der Ehrenlegion.

That's all I've got on that award.

Rough translation. Honor medal of the world war with combat badge, attachment, legion of honor.

Do not accept this as gospel, I am not up to par on post WWI awards.

It is an honorary (commemorative) award given by a council of nationalist minded soldiers (an order). The winged figure depicts winged victory. It's wear was prohibited along with many others in the early 30's.

Dejager... again thanks

Guess the National Socialists felt this medal (and others) supported the old Weimer Republic and the Imperialists.
