Hi, I'm considering auctioning some of my collection. Since EBay banned most german militaria with their characteristic swastikas, I'm wondering where I should place mine.
Any advice?
Best

Why dont you decide on a price and list it here on GDC- you can always lower your price if it doesnt sell at that level-Mike

Hi Nats,

How do you like "auction armas" and "manion's"?

Thanks for the suggestion, I already have an account in one of those mentioned.

There's something intangible about epier that I still do not like...

Why not get a premium membership here and sell .This way your not paying commision on your items and waiting for your money from a auction house.

Hi Guys,

There's a practical reason why I don't post my items in the forums I frequent.

In my beginnings as a collector, I remember a comment by a seller at his booth, in one of my first OGCA shows. When asked why his Luger had a price tag of $900.00, when the Blue Book placed its value at $450.00, he smiled beatifically, and calmly answered: "Books don't buy guns, people do". And he sold it before the day was over!

And that's eminently true, that comment was a revelation to me, which has illuminated my path as a collector ever since.

We as collectors, already have a set idea of what a particular item is worth, and as such, there are virtually no memorable deals to be done within our midst.

OTOH, outside our small circle, we may find a LW paratrooper's knife for $50.00, or sell at auction a HJ dolch at four times our estimated value. That's both, rewarding and fun!

Regular buyers don't have the patience to learn first, then wait until a good deal appears. They have the "want it now" mentality, and are willing to produce the money to pay for the privilege. This is particularly true for daggers with swastikas, japanese swords, Lugers etc...

And what about relatives getting rid of all the "war-mongering, military crap the old man kept"..? Precious moments.

Selling and buying from veteran collectors is, to say the least, way more difficult!

: )

Best

Manuel Luis

BTW: What are other edvantages of having a Premium membership? What's the cost? I may end up getting one anyway.
