Hey guys, found this RLB bayonet and I havn't seen a lot of those, cause I'm a newbee collector, but is it good? I have seen a picture of another one where the "star" was bigger. If it's good, what would be a fair price?

Hi Kevin,
Welcome to the BCN Forum. Original RLB bayonets are few and far between. I say original because there are many bayonets out there that have emblems and badges added postwar by unscrupulous people. Your pictures aren't so good so I would suggest trying to get more detailed ones.
Most importantly you should scrutinize the grip emblem for where it is attached and how it is attached to the grip. An original grip emblem will be pinned to the grip and not glued or wedged in. Most original emblems that are pinned with show just the slightest wiggle when touched. Nothing will substitute for a good in-hand inspection but try to ascertain how the emblem is attached. Also try to see if it's centered between the rivets on the obverse grip plate. I've seen several of these that were positioned too high on the grip and actually looked quite out of place. I'd love to see better pictures if you can get them. No idea about price, but I'm sure one of the brothers can shed more light on that. Good luck!

Kevin I agree with Billy, in hand inspection is a must on these. The EPack w/removeable grips are the easiest to alter. I am an expert on this since I bit on a bad one many year ago. TKissinger

Kevin, Obviously as stated hands on evaluations are best. But if thats not possible then good pictures are an absolute must. Getting as close to the item as you can get them. Also of the opposite side of the grip with the spanner nut models because sometimes you can see where they were turned displacing metal which is not a good sign. And in the area of the diamonds around the emblem right next to it. They should be perfect. If not then most probably the emblem is a later addition. And there are some other factors as well which can sometimes be seen in photos. Good Luck! FP
