Hi all, I have been offered this dagger and were wondering what your thoughts are on it. I only have the pictures at present. Thanks for your help. Ian

I've been offered the same...

Motto looks awful.
My advice is to stay away.

Pictures are too small to tell for sure, but like Trigger said, the motto looks bad.

Chain looks ok to me from what I can see (not-too-good pictures). The motto worries me also though. I would request better pictures, and if you consider buying it, I would make sure there is a return privelige. Just my $.02 cents worth...

That motto looks a lot like the fake that Louie showed, and did a little "playing" with. It should be a crime to make these fakes, like it is with a fake Rolex. I just hate to keep seeing these damn things come up!

May I ask who is offering it? It might help the rest of us to know what to avoid.

Hi all the dagger is offered by Greg who's email is [email protected]. on behalf of somebody. They are asking $2500. I am not looking to buy it as I agree with the comments on the motto. I already have an SS I purchased from Paul at Lakesidetrader and think it is better to deal with someone like that.

The lower cross guards is marked F B . Is it known who this maker is ?? Of special interest to me , as the out side is marked as well ... 3 dots and a 'P' from looks of it . These grouping of dots happens to have been used on an EK 1 as well ... possibly a connection .
Your thoughts,thanks;

Hi Paul

Yep, the same seller many of us get spammed with a balanced mix of outright fakes and a few real items to sweeten the pot...

I don't know how he manages to sell this stuff, as a few times I've asked for pics and his fakes were sold. Who knows Frown

Krause, You are right, Maybe they should be illegal, but they aren't! You complain that you wish they wouldn't keep showing up on here, but, personally, I am glad they do. Every time one pops up we have the opportunity to point out the "clues" that they are bad to what is almost always a new collector who is in the process of purchasing one. So we can set them straight and also any other new collectors who happen to be looking on. Isn't that a large part of what we are doing here? To educate new collectors on what to watch out for. While it may be a bit tedious at times, I would bet there was a time when you would have really given your eye teeth to be able to have such a resource as we provide to the new collectors in the community. I don't thnk it is too much of a burden we have to bear in exchange for having access even to just each other. So I say "bring 'em on!" If we give out the truth enough times it becomes common knowledge what to look for and we may eventually put the fakers out of business! 3FL
