Hey Aaron:
What is a gif ? I've heard that someone was suspended for posting an objectionable "gif", and I was wondering what that means.

Best Regards,
Robert

OK. I understand now. I looked it up on the "Ulitmate Computer Acronyms Archive" and it said - GIF: Graphical Interchange Format, File format for bitmapped images (CompuServ). I didn't believe that was what they where referring to, but apparently it was.

Thank you tj.

Robert

GIF are frequently used on the web because of their smaller size for web graphics. They are limited to the amount of color infomation they can hold (vs a .JPG file format) but they also can be used to make animations:

(not an actual link) but and example on how I used the gif to make the images change

Gentlemen:
That's what I love about this website. There is so much knowledge generously offered here. I've often seen these animated images, and wondered how it was done.

Thank you Mr. Jerry.

P.S.
Would it be possible for someone to tell me how to work this form of digital magic on my own? Any help would be much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Robert

I use the mighty "photoshop", and its companion program "imageready" to create my gifs. There are other ways to do it too. Try doing a google search on "creating animated gifs" it can be a time consuming effort, but sometimes the results are worth it.

100% correct, Rob. There are literally a million sites for all types of animated gifs.

For instance, I 'big game' fish, first and foremost, and this is my email signature (if it comes out here)

Nothing to be sorry about tj. Clearly, I'm no computer guru either. That shark is neat looking though. I'll have to go on the web and see what I can find. Thanks for the tip.

Hey Degens:
Now that's pretty neat! Cool Did you make that yourself? It reminds me of your signature.
