This morning i found a off-white, complete
Eickhorn felt hilt cover, marked in red:

- DRGM
- Beachten Sie das Eickhornchen auf der klinge"
- the eickhorn logo, with the sword.

No damage at all, no holes, and 100 percent ww2. just a bit old.
Are these covers rare, I dont see them a lot overhere?
For what swords/daggers are they used?

Kees

Yes-they are quite rare and can be used on any sword.

The hilt cover you posted appears to be for a Luftwaffe sword. The Luftwaffe sword covers are symetrical and longer than those for the army sword. I have two army sword hilt covers, if you are interested, I would be willing to trade an army for a luft. Here is a photo of an army cover.Note that the flap on the army model is not symetrical, and the hole at the bottom is not centered. You have a real nice item, and they are not common. Joe S

Since i'm a luftsword collector, i think it's a nice item in the collection. You have to know i paid 10 euro's for it. Compared with the two that are for sale, and are the standard army's, for about 450 -495 usd.

not bad at all,though?

This image is from the May 1931 Carl Eickhorn catalog, "DIVERSE SABEL FUR OFFIZIERE, MANNSCHAFTEN POLIZEI UND BEAMTE". The catalog is in German, English, French and Spanish.

Take in consideration that a lot of these came on the european market a couple of years ago and are not period originals.
