Anyone had a chance to play this yet? Very cool - Valve did a great job enhancing the realism of the game.

I was on it for 6 hours yesterday , the sniper is superb. The only gripe I do have is the players tend to stick to each other to easily which didnt happen with CS and the levels can be over too quickly which means you spend too much time listening to the music than playing the game. Saying that you are right about the realism and get a good player on the MG42 and its time to change your route.
I am managing to keep my K.D.Ratio about 1.2 but I play with the graphics cranked right up so the fanatics get an advantage!.
For $20 anyone thinking of getting it wont be disappointed

I've not had a chance to play the snipers or MG42 - just the MP40 and Tommy. The tracer fire from the MG42 is totally wicked!! I agree with your gripes, but hopefully they will get things straightened around soon. My system keeps having video problems - crashes at least once per map, which sucks. CS:Source doesn't do that, so it must be something related to DOD. My KD ration the first time playing was terrible, but it's about 1:1 now.

It is a fun game, but still a little buggy. Once the modders start messing with it and get some more maps it will be great.

While the graphics are awesome i felt like i was missing something by there not being as may character options. I like playing Strosstrupe and Sergant etc but no longer have the option

I agree - I think it still needs some work, but they're off to a good start. The audio is awesome too! I love hearing the MG42 in the near distance!

I really like the game - I generaly play on only one server (IGO) good pings, maps, and players.

I was gonna buy this but is it like Call to Duty 2, multiplayer. In being totally free to play once you buy it from the store?

I bought it via Steam for $17 since I had HL2 installed. Once I bought it all updates and online play are free... If you do get it let me know I maybe we can play on the same team.

Hi adam "ping" is the response timeframe between your computer and the server you are playing on. E.G over here in Australia i average a ping of 30.

So higher is better? I am assuming. I am about 110 ping on COD2 multiplayer.

sorry mate i should have added the lower the better. In othere words if you have a ping of 110 i am moving 3 times faster than you - as it is only taking 30 mico seconds to return my movement query wereas you... will be entrenching spade material!!!

maybe I am using an over seas server maybe I need to move closer to home with it huh? I got cable internet.

The IGO server I play on is located in Dallas and my pings are usally 50 or so...

John I just downloaded DOD so let me know and maybe some of us here can meet up on a server.

Just post the IP of the server and a time mate, time zone dependant i will be there... Of course i might also be a little wobbly as its friday here so its beer'o'clock time in 5 hours.....

Check out the UK |B.I.A| clan server ip - 195.10.62.10:27019 (DIE WITH YOUR BOOTS ON) . I am not sure what pings you would get but this server is always packed and I am admin so if you kill me too much, you get burned.

If you are playing DOD Source then when you boot the game and get to the menu, gotto the favourite internet servers tag, next to find server tag and at the bottom you have the choice to add server. Just enter the full ip address like above and the server will appear in your favs. Be aware though that since the last Valve patch the fav server option no longer remembers your favourites so you have to enter the ip everytime you wish to find a certain server. Should be patched in the next update.

Yes the game interface does have a search function - the name of the server is iGO. They typically have two servers up one private and one public.

I can't find yours Degans. But John I find two iGO servers one has a lock the other is IGO custom maps something or other which is it.

I see you found the right server - I hope you had fun... I ended up doing ok - last game I was #2 and we did not have the best team... but it was fun.

The iGO guys run a good server.

My eyes are tired and I listed the wrong ip > 195.62.10.62:27019. Due to the time difference I am not sure if the server will be populated but you are more than welcome if you find it is. Tends to be a regular crowd so there is no threat of team killing etc.

aAAAHH well. I thought this might be the case, even with the fantastic internet connection speeds we see today its still not possible to compete online with half the world on a level footing .

I am on the server far too much it is way better then COD2 multiplayer the games starting to effect how much time I can spend on GDC But the guys on that server all seem great!! Its nice I like a chatty servers

LOL I saw your spray - make sure you stick with one in game name so you can track your stats.

As you noticed I have a few friends I bring with me to battle. I have been playing online with the same group of guys since 1999. We are all into military history and related games.

We even have a website - www.kampfgruppe.us not much but it gives us a home.

The ADMIN on that server changed my name from Strumbannführer to Strumbannfuehrer he siad I could not use foreign charactors. Why Got me, So I probably lost much of my stats with that change.

Check your stats they may be tied to some CD id.... as for the name they do not allow any non standard charters do to peoblems with people hacking the game not only for names but other cheats...
