Picked these two pieces up today at a local auction, bayonet is dated 1917 and has the correct scabbord bummer it's missing the hook and it has been sharpened but I got a pretrty good deal, the 03 is a real nice one but has been rebarreled but the odd thing is the serial number is in the 1 mil range for 1929-30 timeframe but it has a 1914 barrel, the bolt is a 03 remington but the rest looks good, weird what ****nels did guess they just used what they had.

Very nice weapon - I would guess that the barrel needed replacing for whatever reason, the Recession was going on, the army's budget was slashed and they used a barrel left over from the ww1 stockpile.

Thats what I think also, everything else about this rifle is right on for a 1929-30 rifle, patina is constant thruout also so this barrel has been there pretty much from day one from the looks of it, dang nice rifle and a mint bore to, looks to have not been shot much at all.
