Here is a nice vibrant 2 color M35 Luft Camo I just picked up. This helmet has thick sand textured 2 color paint. A name was scraped off the skirt and there is a name on the liner, must have been passed along. Pretty typical. Untouched helmet complete with original to the helmet chinstrap. These are getting tougher and tougher to find. First Camo I added to my collection in a while. This is one of two I picked up today with the help of another collector

Fairly vibrant colours for a cammo, but I have seen similar. Nice piece.

Matt,
I like the looks of that one...a lot. A very striking example of a unique camo helmet. And, to have it complete with the original chinstrap, liner string and all is a definite plus...just as it came off the soldier's head. Beautiful. Great to see you've added another fine member into the fold.
I have been fairly lucky recently too. Perhaps I'll post some images in a few days.
Cheers,
Darryl

Are there any period photos of this colour scheme being used? In fact are there any colour photos of camo helmets being worn during the war.Rob.

That's a catagory helmet I refer to as "the best". Here's a M40 Luftwaffe with the same colors but not as thick and lacking the sand texture.

Matt, Another killer. In photo #7 (vent), it appears the helmet might of been winter camo prior. I see traces of a light tan paint or maybe just the photo. Larry

Interesting how these helmets make their rounds among German helmet enthusiasts. Currently, it resides in my collection. Sould be fairly easy to pick out.

I would disagree. To me its a one look original and would love to own it. Was in Russ Hamilton's collection years ago.

It's a one looker all right... One look and the wearer would be dead.
It's supposed to be camo, not neon.
Is this a joke?

You have some very wise and respected collectors(not speaking of some in this thread) in the helmet collecting community that have no doubt as to the originality of that camo. These opinions do mean something over the average. These opinions are not meant to change your mind but should answer your question of it being a joke in several ways.
