Some of you may find this discussion interesting - you may really want to take heed to the possibility of a REALLY GOOD forgery entering the market very soon. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t...=1#post2773145[/URL]It was, and still is, only a matter of time . . . Brad

JR knows when he sees a fake SS "Russian-chain".

JR is 100% correct on this. I go to Czech every year and these have started popping up, I have seen 5. Unbelievably good fakes, but DEFINATELY fake. Someone has finally put some real effort into making a good SS fake. With SS prices ao high, are any of us really suprised???

These are indeed good fakes but would, never, ever pass a hand inspection test. Pictures are extremely deceiving and it is always very difficult to tell the originality of a dagger from pics alone, unless there are obvious flaws to it. Other than that, feel reassured, the perfect fake hasn't arrived yet and how do we know that............well, simply 'cause we know that this Klaas is fake.

Naturally the SS copies will get better over time. I have seen some very good copies being sold as originals on Aukro.cz * Afterwards I have seen the same daggers being sold as originals on Militaria321 The problem with the copies is when the dagger is sold several times the owners will be more and more convinced that it's an original dagger. And so it goes on - the marked will be completely destroyed over time - and NOBODY will eventually be able to tell the difference. J,- * PLEASE NOTE that not all daggers from The Czech Republic are copies. The Czech Republic had a large German population when they were occupied in '38.

It does not take perfection to be fooled in this hobby. With all the online buying these days how hard is it ? Buyer Beware.

With respect Dave, but how was my post 'off-topic'?
It pertained exactly to what the previous two posts refer to, and provided an example of the dangers of buying on the internet, as referred to in the post above. What is wrong with that please?
Regards Russ

I disagree, the question it is about forgery and Ruski had every right to put his comments forward IMO.

I too saw Ruski's statement before it was pulled. There was nothing wrong with it. And as an old Polish friend of mine would say with a strong accent.."Oh Com On Mann - VATS VRONG!?" -serge-

Dave! You said "This thread is about Rohm daggers." After Checking, I found that the ONLY mention of Rohm Daggers in this thread was made by YOU. Shouldn't you have said this thread is placed Wrong and moved it to the regular SS Forum?? But then you wouldn't have been able to edit it, would you? NOT an Attack, just an Observation! RG88

Dave, with respect, you are missing the point here. The thread is about fakes and forgeries as the other members have pointed out. Read the title of the thread. Yes, it's in the Rohm section which is irrelevant. Threads evolve - all of them, and that is what makes them interesting. This has evolved in part to the highly relevant statement by Zorro that buying over the internet is very difficult - Buyer Beware. This relates to any item, not just Rohm daggers, and appears to be a very valid and general observation by Zorro, which I believe most collectors would agree with. I then made my observation, which is just as relevant as the statement made by Zorro, and cited an example of just how difficult this has become - the link provided is very appropriate and addresses directly, exactly what collectors can be faced with today over the net. My post was removed, but Zorro's wasn't. So, with respect, the post was not off-topic, and I am posting it again now. Please read Zorro's statement. There is no breach of the CoC here, by me. My comment following the link is true, as is evidenced by the link, should anyone care to read it. Buyer Beware is correct - are statements such as veteran acquired, motel buys, and decades of experience supposed to be some sort of guarantee? Most certainly not in this instance. Buy the item, not the story and all the frillies that go with it. Regards Russ quote: Originally posted by zorro: It does not take perfection to be fooled in this hobby. With all the online buying these days how hard is it ? Buyer Beware. How correct that statement is. And perfectly timed. For an example, see this. http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7480909271/m/3480004285Veteran acquired, decades of experience and 100's of motel buys don't mean a thing. Regards Russ

Are we back to this again? I did not read the post in question so I will not comment on it at all and no has told me the content. This forum exists to benefit all members of the collecting community. If the post was factual and didn't slander anyone what is the issue? regards, Ryan

Ryan, I have re-posted my deleted comments, which you can see just above your post - that was it - nothing else. It starts with the quote from Zorro.
