There are several points I do not like on this hanger but as a centerpoint I have never seen such a fragile attachment of the buckles before. IMO such attachment would not hold the weight of the dagger during real wear for an acceptable period.... IMO this hanger is not period (under use of period metal parts).

The kind of velvet does have the certain thick and stiff look which is known by me for cheap copies. This is also the reason that the velvet could not, as it is the norm - be bent for a second time through the buckle - therefore this odd attachment.... The color of the buckles and slides, but this COULD be the blurry and bad lighted pics. Delicate parts of the hanger (eg. how the fabrik is sewn to the upper fitting; detailed pic of the eyelets back and front-I in no way do love what I can determine of the revers where the eyelets are attached) are spared in the pics. Nevertheless, a in hand inspection would be necessary to make a final statement. Please understand that I do not want to go into each detail as we here do not want to educate any fakers who fore sure also attend this site. If you attend any show, I think there are quite a lot of honestly worn hangs. Look at them, do examine them and you soon will get to know the differences to common fakes.

paul67, nothing to worry about imo. When you have time to look for there are a lot of nice ones around which are "textbook" (I really do hate this word ). Although I personally do like anomalies I would not like to have this one in my collection. Just my thoughts.

The top fitting shows age marks and so do the lower snaps if the photos are correct. Everything else looks new and has no signs of age. I would look for another set. Dave PS - I like the 1000 year warranty. The "1000 Year Reich" lasted about 12 years, though

It looks like an modern repo due to the lack of patina and wear. Buy a set from a forum member for $125.00-200.00 and save you a lot of aggervation.
