I built this up during the winter/spring, and I am still not finished with it.
Getting there Wink, awaiting long evenings in the arctic to come again....

The basic model is a Tamiya, but I replaced road-wheels and transmission-housings with parts from Axels Modellbaushop and WeCoHe.

Since this model will be driven, I also opted for the better, more realistic springs from WeCoHe to replace the stiff torsion bars supplied in the kit.

Tamiya's gun supplied was a disappointment, mechanism was poor, and even the shape was off compared to the real thing.
So again, new bits...
Recoil motor-mechanism is taken from the Tiger-kit. Main gun from WeCoHe again.

One of the most cumbersome builds in the project was the rear ammo-door on the turret.
It is a working construction with latches in 1/16 scale...

Being used to 1/35th scale, the massive size of this consumed a lot of paint.
Here, primer has been laid down, and starting to put on the dunkel-gelb as a base for the 3-tone camo.

Real steel belts, and rubber on the road-wheels.
Also now a few washes of filters and some pin-washes has been added.

This is basically where I am at now.
I still need to add tools, and more weathering.

Boy is it fun to build models again Big Grin Big Grin

Last picture for now.
Time to start detailing the tools, spare track links, add more dirt & grime to it...

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Cheers,

Hei Ståle,

I've used these 2 shops in Germany to enhance my project:
www.wecohe.de
www.axels-modellbau-shop.de

I can highly recommend both for excellent service!!

Also various reference books from my library have been invaluable!
My Panther Ausf G depicts a tank from '45 fighting in/around Hungary.

All the best!

By the way, has the baby come yet? Wink

Thanks Tor-Helge.

Great links, i am planning to build my Tamiya Tiger this winter.
Will check out those uppgrades for shure.

The baby has arrived(080813).
Whitin two min from arrviel to the hospital, he was out.
Both his mom and himself are just fine.
He is a tiny one (2.2kg), so he has been on a strict food diet, must have a good meal each 3 houer.
He has gained some weight now so all is fine.
Needless to say, both his mum an I are more like zombies these days, tierd, so tierd.......
But damn he is just like his father, SOOOOO cute ;=)

Take care.
Ståle
