Just picked this Major der Gendarmerie Waffenrock and britches and wanted to show it. They aren't perfect but do have a nice used look to them.

KvKI and BWB. The dealer said they didn't come with the tunic but looked proper so I'll leave them for now. there is a single loop on the lower part of the pocket in between the medals. Not sure what it's for. It doesn't look like there was one above it but why would there be just one?

There's no makers label or markings. The only item with anything on it are the two loops in the upper arm seam, W. WELHAUSEN HANNOVER.

It's nice that they put a screw type button on the right board to make attaching the shoulder cord easier.

If you noticed in the first photo the right lower pocket is missing it's button. I found it in the pocket and it matches the others, Assman marked Extra Fien. i'll have it reattached soon but, i also found this button in the top pocket.

Hello,

Nice hard to find higher ranks uniform. Too bad about the repairs, but they seem to have been professionally done.

Now you need a few things to put it all together. Here is my example, a lowly Lieutenant:

RAYMOND..... WOW !!!! CONGRATS..........

What a Gorgeous, just 'Drop Dead' Officer's Uniform! The cut and the Tailoring are superb throughout. Amazing details present, like the trousers with the small adjustment area of laces, and the neat Gendarmerie 'Piping' seen.

Love it! I am also curious about the little snaps? Maybe for some type of special suspendors? Great Combo! Txs, Dave/dblmed

Yes something orange and Gendarmerie...and for a high ranking officer!!

Rather different mounting by sewing the post for the rank tab on top of the tunic cloth...does anyone else have one mounted this way? The button makings remind me of some of those SS cap skulls I've seen with the same or nearly identical marking??? Confused

A nice Gendarmerie uniform. I have seen the screwbuttons on uniform shoulders before and the little snaps in the waistband. I have never figured out what they attach to. Too flimsy for suspenders, maybe to hold up delicate officer undies?

Ray : A great tunic --and the pants with it ! Looks like he had a long Ribbon bar ; I would guess with a lot of awards from WWI on it AND police service time . The KVK I would have been worn on the lower center of the front pocket , just like the EK 1 , --and not like you have it now ! May be he had a SA or the older type DLR or DLA sports badge where you have now the KVK I .

Thanks guys, glad you like it. Bernd, I was thinking along the same line concerning the KVKI. I just checked and a sports badge fits the loops even better than the KVKI. I also can see where there was a set of loops on the center of the pocket. the lower one is still there( you can see it in the first photo) but the upper one is gone. There is a shadow on the pocket where it once was and measures 30mm from the bottom loop.I'll see about adding this loop and moving the KVKI there. The loops where the KVKI is measure the same and the wound badge measures 25mm. I always wondered if each award had it's own specific measurement or did the taylor have the badge in hand and make it so it was snug? What sport badge was most worn by the police? My guess would be DRA/DRL, as that's what I've seen most in period photos I've seen.
George, I was thinking the loops on the pants were for hanging on a hanger, like the loops I showed in the seams on the tunic.
Now I need an officers shako, shoulder cord, brocade belt, cartouche & belt, sword, gloves and boots. Not to forget, a long ribbon bar say 8 or 9 ribbons. Did I forget anything?

Dear Raymond,

Don't forget the officer's dress shoulder cords.
Of course it depends on what degree of "dress" you want to present. My photo above would be full parade dress. Good luck with your quest!

Bill, I looked through some boxes for the Aiguillettes I have. I think this is the proper one. Is it? these are a little confussing even with the new book from Bender.

That's it. It's the same as that used by Airforce officers. Check one off the need to get list!

Yeah, those 6 spaced loops about the breast pocket will require a massive ribbon bar! Might be best to make a cardboard or paper template of the loops to check sizes with potential candidates.

One for comparison...Below is my Major d. Gendarmerie tunic attributed to Willi Pfeiffer who also held equivalent rank in the SS. I added the shoulder cords for display purposes once I found the button under the shoulder strap. Also the 2nd picture depicts how my screw-down posts were mounted.

Raymond .... I had to come back (several times) to admire your 'new' addition. It just doesn't get much better. Now, it's on to the search for all of those accessories! CONGRATS! Dave/dblmed
