I would not touch the grip! Looks NICE, great grain!

As for the blade, I guess it is up to you. Honestly though, any restoration that you do to the blade will be detectable to other collectors and will probably only hurt the value in the end.

I would let this one remain "honest and untouched".
Just my opinion, but I also understand the strong temptation to give the dagger a little "help".

Well,...I`ll play devils advocate & just make the following observation. The condition is such that you could hardly do anything but improve it. If you were looking for a project piece to try your hand & "have a go" then this would be an ideal candidate IMO. What have you got to lose?

I agree. The dagger is far enough deteriorated that you cannot do a lot to worsen its value if you stay away from power tools.

I once had a dagger (no scabbard) worse than that. Little by little, I got to look better than it was. I ended up giving it away. Paul Horton's son as I remember.

It is junk as the Rev sais. But if you are really curious about the materials the daggers were made of, plus want to know what can be done with a junker, you can have some fun. I've played with a similar SA and an M7/29 SS. It is amazing how tough they are. It also gives you a very good idea of what to look for if you are checking whether a decent dagger has been reworked

Hell, it's worth a cheap price just to learn how to take apart and restore the scabbards !! Mike

The a hole sold it on me, what a jerk, I ask where to send the funds and he says, someone already committed even though I was the first contact and I wanted payoff instructions , he hastily sold it out.I was probably going to part it out anyway. T

Actually I was only half joking. If this is the one I think it is, it's been offered in the Cleveland area for at least a week or two.

No big loss, it was just a time filler to screw with. Who knows if the dam thing would come apart anyway, the guy wouldnt even send a reverse grip photo, said its returnable if need be , yeh right.He just seemed like an idiot to me the more we communicated.
