Greetings all- I will be returning to my duties as Moderator of the SA forum-It has been a long time since I've had adequate time following Katrina and the unbelievable aftermath. What with repairing damage, insurance and paperwork, preparing the house for sale, looking for jobs, looking for a new home, buying it,moving and unpacking 35 yrs of collections I've been unable to give GDC the proper time. But all is better-I have moved to the huge town of Arnaudville, about 150 mi to the NW of New Orleans and have found adequate work to keep the daggers flowing.New Orleans is still very crippled-there has been good repairs to the parts lightly damaged, but the areas of heavy destruction have about only 10% reconstruction. The politicians are screwing up big time-they all have big plans for the supposed $5bil when it comes from the feds, provided they can skim enough off to fatten themselves. The infrastructure is starting to collapse-businesses that said they would stay are leaving and many of the middle and uppermiddle classes are bolting for elsewhere, even with reliable jobs- The private schools are collaping because of this loss and many will have to merge or just outright fold. But enough good news- I'll try and review the listings and hope no murders have occurred(I have seen a few more threats than usual)-also sincere thanks to Dave Hohaus for helping out- So until the next natural or even unatural disaster, it's good to be back. Mike McAlvanah

Welcome back Doc.
At the end of next month, it will be a year since Katrina. Man, what a terrible time.
Glad to see you are coming through it, and also sorry to see what has happened to New Orleans.

Hi Mike: And all this time we thought you were just busy cleaning daggers! Eleven years ago we picked up everything and moved from Illinois to Arizona and have never looked back. Good luck; I hope everything is working out for you. Jim

I certainly did get paid- that $100,000 check up front sure did help and the monthly $10,000 allowed me to pay the bills- now that I'm back Vern will be able to raise my salery back to where it was. Mike- how have you been Bernie? Will I see you at Max?

Hahahahahahaha.... I knew I was making more than you!!!!! I'm doing great Mike. Myeloma is way down as the chemo did it's job. My transplant is on hold for now. The MAx is a definite possibility. By my last count, you owe me about 10 beers.....

When Vern and I get Mike's paychecks back, we see that they are all cashed in at "Creole Discount Liquor Emporium" or "Madame Eloise's Discreet Service for Visitors" Dave

I forgot to tell everyone the worst catastrophe of the storm- the rum distillery where I was working went under 8 feet of water and most of the aged 55 gal barrels were ruined- I had promised to bring some sample bottles to MAX last year but never made it- obviously the samples were drank soon thereafter the storm and I will be unable to provide samples for this year's MAX. Katrina was a terrible storm for many reasons. Mike
