Hi Everyone,

I am just about to purchase this piece from a collector in Poland. I do have some doubts about the autenticity of this dagger. Can any of you advice?

Can the ID numbers be placed this way on the crosguard?

And the final doubt I have is connected to the eagle placement in the grip. I can see some loose spaces below the wings - can this be standard for oryginal? I was told thi has not been fixed.

I can tell you the scabbard is not original to the dagger. Then I ask myself what else has been done to it? Notice the pit marks around the makermark. Where do they come from, there is no corrosion or rust just deep pit marks, not good. That leaves the inscription that I also think is fake.I would not buy a full Rohm SS dagger these days, too many of them.

The seller's nick on german e-gun is often seen on polish allegro (seller located also in Herxheim, Germany), where he pushes fakes as well. Must be the same bunch.

Spoke to our coleague Antoni - a trader from "Kolo" market in Warsaw and he said he was approached by the german speaking guy to purchase "wholsale" number of full rohm blades - surely fake ones. It was like 6 months ago. He did not buy it but seas it from time to time poping up now.

the guy is trading from the email evi1988@o2.pl BEWARE!!!

I almost got myself nicked...again. I even went ot Poznan for inspectiona and belive me - the damast Eick dagger looked real like hell.

Anyway ...the guy said his father is closing the collection. Byt just realized he said his name was Marcin Kucharski and previously I saw he said he was Adrian on the email.

Well the collection he had on allegro went to Russia for 75K PLN $25K

Have a look.....

Thought from a non expert.
Many moons ago, I lost a camping knife in my backyard. It had sentimental value. Could not find it, til much later i wa rototilling the soil.
I was in general slightly oxidized (supposedly stainless steel) but had some pitmarks on different places. I asked around and was told by a knife maker, by this may have been due to different 'spot" chemicals in the soil; natural or added when i sprayed it.
Perhaps these pitmarks are due to someone burying it for a while to "age" it.
Just a thought.

Waste of time. In that "collection" only the popular daggers seem to be real. All the chained ones etc. are copies. The so called "NSKOV dagger" which is nothing more than regular SA with NSKOV badge attached to the scabbard. You can see a dagger like that in Hartung's little catalogue which is really poor reference. This way some people think such model of dagger really existed and stick the NSKOV badges to the scabbards to raise the value grin

Hello Adam, you are right, I have seen it in some catalogue or book. I know, it was quite thin, but I don't remember the name.

No no Adam, it's time to think up some new brand dagger. There is a plenty of these small comemorative badges. I think it's only a matter of time, when we will see new one.

Lukas.
