As often is the case, I am confused about the "field gray" or "green" backed SS brocade belts. For a long time, it was said such belts were worn by the Waffen-SS and police. It seems I have heard lately that they were worn only by police officers. Which is true? Thank you.

Are you saying the brocade belt was not worn after 1941? Or?

The order to no longer wear the brocade belt was enforced November 4, 1941 even if it was still possible to purchase such item! Of course, like with any order, some officers ignored it. But they were no longer allowed to wear such belts after 1941, and this for as long the war could last.

Indeed but an order is an order. Speeding is not allowed but how many are driving over speed limit and are never caught? Same scenario. Most period photos showing still wear of the brocade after 1941 are during weddings (personnal) but not during official ceremonies/receptions. Smile
