A friend of mine recently picked-up this officer quality runic tab from a US WW2 vet. I'll post the back side next-that is what makes me wonder.

Anyone seen the back side of an original tab that looks this this? Any comments?

I have had some SA tabs that had a thin clear plastic backing, and so they were re-sewn in a similar fashion. That one looks like the shape was modified to better fit a pointed collar. Can you post a pic straight on?

Hi Jerry- Sorry, my friend owns that tab and he is in another state-all I have is the 2 scans I posted, which he sent me. With that plain cardboard backing or whatever it's made of, I couldn't help but notice that the folded around rear overlaps are not neatly symmetrical, as is usually seen on the reverse side of normal tabs, with evenly-sized overlaps wrapped around buckram. The tab illustrated also has runes spaced unusually far apart...makes me wonder if it started out as something other than a collar tab?
